sometimes it rests in the silence there isn't between the notes.

Released yesterday. Just found out she's at the Fillmore for back-to-back dates this weekend.

gotta say i'm pretty taken with Art Angels. Kill V. Maim makes me want to take MDMA which I haven't done in fucking ages.

She's got a crystal vibe. Quite the chameleon as well, interesting artist.

i liked that single, flesh without blood, despite being kind of... baffled? about it at first. catch as hell tho

the song california is pretty bad but there's some grimes gems on this record - i guess one hand it kinda sounds like one big crossover attempt but even so it makes sense as a follow-up to visions

your last point is a good one Mars...i agree but what's curious is that if she was really going for some crossover success, she wouldn't bother with the knife and the blood in the video.

she's always branded herself as Electronic Pop so the album seems a natural progression.

i think the new production on Realiti is just off...it was already perfected, but she lost the main file or something on it. Whenever you reproduce something you hit on already, leads to overthinking it the second time inevitably. o' well...

yah, sure. She's a St. Patricks day birthday like unowho and I see a lot of similarity in their art presentation and general disposition on many things music -- lots of layered transcendent ethereal moments with building plateau's around largely sophomoric but occasionally stinging lyrics.

found this weird quote

Quote:
Art Angels uses rock sounds in a really different context. Do you have thoughts on how rock can work in 2016?

I personally really love [British bands] like Bring Me the Horizon and Foals. There's definitely a future in rock, but it will probably be more fusion-oriented, like rock that uses 808s. Twenty One Pilots is kind of like that – it's sort of rock, but the sound is hip-hop. You know all those songs on [the Smashing Pumpkins'] Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness that almost sound like Lorde or something? I feel like that vibe has not been explored.

That's actually a kind of insightful thought about MCIS

Most of the album is hardly rock as most people describe it

about half the album is hard rock to heavy metal but even so I have no idea what to make of the Lorde connection. I'm not sure what she hears that sounds like Lorde to her

I really don't hear how anything on MCIS sounds like Lorde's downbeat electropop style. 1979 I guess is the closest match except the beat is way too snappy
