Rocket video filming locations

I posted most of these links in the 1979 thread, but I'm starting this thread to put everything in one place, with pics. I've also located where the backyard picnic shot was filmed.

The same people who made 1979 made the video for Rocket, and so the filming locations were in the same general area north of L.A.

The rocket neighborhood, the "Santiago Estates", Sylmar, CA 91342

It appears from the aerial views that the nice green sod is gone, and that the backyard is just dirt now.

The clue that this is the yard is over the kids shoulder you can see a house in the background which is found down the hill from this address:

The scrapyard, 11092 Tuxford St #1, Sun Valley, CA 91352

It took no more than a couple minutes to find this by searching for "scrap yards" in the valley area, and then finding the one that had earth moving operations nearby, as can be seen just over the fence in one of the screen shots. The neighboring yard has a very similar layout, but it also appears to have a short little fence that the yard in the video does not have.

Good work. I've always wondered how they did the abstract houses. Are they miniatures superimposed over the live shots, or are they full sized? Seems like a big budget item if so!
