Default Minneapolis shows

1) Ok so I went to the 4/12/00 show in Minneapolis and have a copy of the show, but I know there are a few floating around and I was wondering which source is the one that most people regard as the best so I can look around torrent sites for it. The reason I'm asking is because I don't have the source info on mine and I'm pretty sure it isn't the best one available.

2) In the Graceful Swans of Never documentary, it shows Billy hopping around backstage at a show on the Machina tour and in the background is Prince's "symbol." That symbol is in the back of Northrop Auditorium in Minneapolis b/c Prince is from there so it would appear that there is a DVD somewhere of this 4/12/00 show. Is this something that is circulated or does the band only likely have this?

3) I also went to the Zwan show in Minneapolis 3/20/03 and have not been able to find a complete copy anywhere....any suggestions? Thanks.

1. No idea, but the SPPB>M1 source was recorded from 10 rows back, so I imagine it sounds good.

2. yes it would imply that...very interesting

3. it exists

Well, I went to the University of Minnesota and once when I was backstage at Northrop there was that symbol painted on a wall. When I saw it on the documentary I knew it was clearly that show. What I don't know is if it was a permanent or temporary thing.

As far as the Zwan show goes, I spoke with a poster who used to frequent these boards known as palidor and he had taped the show. However, he wasn't too enthusiastic about his recording and said that he was jostled about and I want to say it was "Endless Summer" that had some errors. He also said that there was a vastly superior recording that he was in possession of, but that the taper asked not to circulate it. I guess my question is whether that has surfaced or if it is still under wraps.

Thanks for the SPPB>M1 info. I will check that one out.

It isn't Prince's symbol - it's just one of the Machina symbols (mercury, I think?)

Also, I have a copy of the Zwan show from Jason (Palidor). PM me and we can work something out.

I unfortunately was not able to make that show, as I wasn't living in Minneapolis until later. I do have that show, but its the version that is widely circulating...

I have a recording of the show, all the info I could find on it was this: AUD>DAT>SS MIC

I have a tape of it also, but it's kinda crappy. It was taped from a rooftop across the street.

I was in a production of Grease, and the block party was the same night as our opening night. I was seriously ready to ditch the play and drive 4 hours to see the show.

Hay I saw your post and I thought I'D drop you a post. I am sure I have the 2003 Mpls Zwan show, and I even have a 1993 Smashing Pumpkins show from First Ave. I also have the 2000 Northrup Aud. Prince show. I have a huge list of stuff to trade, and I am from MN. What I want from you is the "Gracefull Swans of Never" DVD/VCD. I saw that near the Northrup Aud. at the Oak St Cinema on the U of MN campus. I was a good feeling seeing the movie for the first time. Get back to me please - ANYONE WHO WANTS TO TRADE.

P.S. I don't know about a Prince Symbol at the Northrup? Maybe it was there for his show around that time. I know his symbol is at Ground Zero and Mples Records stores. All mpls music people have their Prince stories. Prince and his 4 foot body and 1,000 foot ego.

Peace

I also once had a video of the 1998 Henn. Ave. Block party with the Smashing Pumpkins. The quality was fairly bad, so I got rid of it.

Just went and grabbed the 93 First Ave show. Date 10-03-93. 12 Tracks. I got it in a trade like 2 1/2 years ago. I have allot of boots, like 234 u2 boots, plus others. I have about 30 Smashing Pumpkins boots. I just put the 93 First Ave in my computer cd player - it sounds like VG aud. recording with a good mic location - nice vocal sound, nice mix. I you have a good eq, you can really make it sound good. However, I remember when I first got it I was not happy with the sound quality. I don't know much about it other than that.
If you want I can e-mail you my whole trade list.

As far as the 98 block party video goes. It sucked, and yes it was the rooftop one. I bought it from CD warehouse in Roseville MN for like $25.00. I took it back because the video was so bad.

This is the only Zwan boot cd I can find on my list now. (ZWAN) Billy’s new band with Jimmy Chamberlin. “Glass House” Pomona, CA, 11-16-01, 1 disc, EX Aud MP3

for the 1993 first ave gig...you sure it says 10-03? or could it be 10-05?
there may have been a mixup, because 10-05 is the actual date of the show, according to most sources.

since its 12 tracks its probably this you have a copy of:
http://www.spfc.org/songs-releases/boot.html?boot_id=39

the actual setlist (non-boot version) is 15 tracks long, as shown here:
