I saw them in 2006 and 2007 on two seperate tours. I can assure you they tour haha. I'll be seeing them again on June 28 at the Susquehanna Bank Center.

steely dan's music is an awesome throw back to my childhood, because they're one of my dad's favorite bands

I'm surprised the haters haven't jumped all over this thread like they did the last time someone mentioned Steely Dan. But yeah, great musicians, also one of my parents' favorites... we had a cat named Aja.

The haters didn't recognize. I think my wife may be one of them now. I said... "Steely Dan is going to be in Chicago. Want to get tickets?"

Then she went on some rant about wanting to go to Chicago for a honeymoon back when we got married. Who would honeymoon in fucking Chicago? "Yeah lets go see whales entombed alive at the Shed." (She's an animal lover so this would be a very valid point, had I said it at the time.)

Anyway... I should get tickets to this.

yeah steely dan takes me straight back being a kid. it annoys me that musicians of that caliber and originality haven't made it that far into the mainstream since.

except maybe mars volta.

can't buy a thrill and aja are two really incredible records. it's amazing how much effort went in to and how precise those late 70s/early 80s albums of theirs are, the ones that they made after they started using only studio musicians.
