Default Are The Killers worth checking out?

I know, a few years too late but my friend from work made me a mix CD with one of their songs on it and after a few listens I quite like it. I vaguely remember hearing "Mr. Brightside" a few years ago but with no real opinion either way. Are their albums worth a listen or are they just a good singles band? Which album should I download first?

download their first album, hot fuss, first. then get their second one, sam's town. they make solid albums, a few weak tracks, but overall pretty good.

pretty awesome live, though.

I don't get why many people like them? Nothing original about them.

Pretty much same opinion. Hot Fuss is decent, but Sam's Town just sounds awkward and contrived.
Good songs to download to give you a taste if you haven't picked up Hot Fuss yet:
"When You Were Young"
"Smile Like You Mean It"
"Mr. Brightside"
"All These Things That I've Done"
"Read My Mind"
"Everything Will Be Allright"
"Read My Mind"

the band sucks, and their cover of shadowplay is nothing short of an unforgivable sin

If you're a fan of U2, Bruce Springsteen, or Oasis you'll like Sam's Town, mainly U2. Hot Fuss is overrated, I like The Killers because of Sam's Town, just get Sam's Town and listen to it all the way through, that's the way it's meant to be listened to. Read My Mind is my favorite track off of it. Hot Fuss has some good stuff though, like Mr. Brightside, All These Things That I've Done, and Smile Like You Mean It.
