Single disc MCIS
This might be a bit redundant but I am bored and couldn't find any similar old threads. I'm sure most of us hXc fans have put together a single disc version before. What is yours? I want to see where they intersect with mine, what you left out and any surprising twists.

Tonight Tonight
Muzzle Mouths of Babes Bodies Speed Here's No Why Thru The Eyes Of Ruby Cupid de Locke Thirty-Three Jelly Belly XYU Where Boys Fear To Tread Porcelina of the Vast Oceans This was hard because MCIS has too many songs, and honestly belongs as a double album. I'm still torn about not choosing Zero, TOASE, To Forgive and Galapagos. Needless to say I agree with MCIS belongs the way it exists. |

MCIS is totally worthy of being a double album (with a few tracks swapped from TAFH). I had read a few times over the years that MCIS wasn't as iconic as SD because it was too long. I have seen many threads like this but couldn't find them.

1. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
2. Tonight, Tonight 3. Jellybelly 4. Zero 5. Here Is No Why 6. Bullet with Butterfly Wings 7. Tales of a Scorched Earth 8. Fuck You (An Ode to No One) 9. Muzzle 10. Thru the Eyes of Ruby 11. 1979 12. Thirty-Three 13. In the Arms of Sleep 14. Porcelina of the Vast Oceans 15. By Starlight 16. Farewell and Goodnight It is really hard to make a single disc version. Keeping the flow consistent (which even the official album doesn't do) is so hard. Take Me Down, We Only Come Out at Night, Beautiful and Lily all belong in the unreleased bin. |

There's always someone who posts the entire original tracklist trying to be clever but actually being shitty.
Assume I did just that. |

I just don't wanna. It's always a bad idea.
There's too many good tracks on this thing no matter what your preference to fit on a single disc. I'll be over here trying to fit the whole Machina concept on three discs instead, I think I've almost got this. |

Why not do a six disc MCIS instead?

I just call that "Playing MCIS and TAFH in order" basically.
Sometimes I wonder if the 12-track TAFH sampler wasn't someone's idea of how to condense TAFH onto a single CD at the expense of a shit ton of good tracks. |

It should have been a tripple album to avoid JAMES IHA's solo record...

I have realized now that MCIS is the best 1.5 album ever. Seriously though, there are too many good songs for it not to be a double. Willde Billiam Should have just cut the Iha crap, merged some lovely TAFH songs and made it a true masterpiece.

Speaking of, Machina II > Machina I. Kind of unfortunate how those songs didn't end up as a-sides. Last edited by MarquisInSpades : 12-23-2017 at 05:50 AM. |

historically double albums were 80mins long (white album, the wall...)
MCIS was 120mins cutting it down to 90 mins... possible cutting it down to 60, blasphemy. |

Perfect MCIS for me would get rid of Take Me Down, Love, Beautiful, and WOCOAN, replaced with Cherry, Mouths of Babes, TAFH and Pennies. Id also as before put Porcelina as the closing song because its always just seemed like a better ending.

Here's my single disc MCIS, based on the guiding principals of simply picking the 14 strongest songs to form a cohesive, solid, hard-hitting album in the style of Siamese Dream, and without regard to the conceptual elements of MCIS
1. Tonight, Tonight 2. Jellybelly 3. Zero 4. Here Is No Why 5. Fuck You (An Ode to No One) 6. Galapogos 7. Muzzle 8. Porcelina of the Vast Oceans 9. Bodies 10. Thirty-Three 11. In the Arms of Sleep 12. 1979 13. Thru the Eyes of Ruby 14. By Starlight This was actually pretty easy. The only place I hesitated was choosing whether to keep WBFTT or Bodies, but ultimately went with Bodies because I feel it is a more iconic song. |

What's next a double album featuring 28 remixes of Spiteface?
As Liam Gallagher once chortled, "So what's the matter with you? Sing me something new." |
