Default New Thom Yorke solo album.

Anyone heard it? I've only listened to the first track but thought it sounded good. I really liked 'Eraser', so I'll definitely give this one a listen.

Thom Yorke annoys me because he hates streaming services

The first track sounded a little dull to me, so I don't know whether to drop the 6 bucks. Eraser was pretty cool but started to get really samey after awhile.

Maybe I was a bit generous saying it was "good". To be honest, it didn't grab me, but Thom Yorke is one of those artists who I really want to carry on liking, because Radiohead used to be one of my favourite ever bands. Oh well, I hope the album is worth listening to.

I still picture him as the same guy who sang I'm a creep I'm a loser. Even with all the success and critical recognition his music has remained relateable to me

i feel the same about the guy that sang i'm just a rat in a cage. because he wasn't talking about an actual rat in a cage. it was a metaphor.

no, it's really true. go back and listen to it again, but really listen. you will understand it probably. the thing i like about metaphors is they relate things that often you wouldn't even think would have anything to do with each other. corrigan is very clever.

it sucks that he became so obsessed with autechre and boards of canada that he went from being a production perfectionist, emphasizing live energy with headphone psychedelia, to insisting on only the most minimal production in the name of disposable remixability above listenability. he pulled a genius trick successfully combining autechre with arena rock, and now he's been obsessed with the same narrow specific strain of IDM longer than he ever was with guitar bands

like, compare atoms for peace live youtubes with the album, or king of limbs studio and album versions. you have to be ridiculously obsessed with non-existent IDM cred to refuse to incorporate all that amazing live energy into an album. either that or old and rich with total creative freedom to overthink everything

whatever it's still pretty good. this one at least mixes up the usual programming with lo-fi pianos and analog tape effects, but still undercooked songs and singing. after a couple listens motherlode is the only truly amazing track. the bittorrent thing is a neat idea too i guess

Yeah it's weird how the guy was this big" indie" king but he was reduced to an emulating fanboy the minute he heard Aphex Twin.
The funniest thing is that most these electronic artists don't like Radiohead. Richard has literally called them "crap".

some nice moments. feels kind of tossed off, though. as someone said earlier, it's very much from the blueprint of the eraser

I want Radiohead to get together again and create another Hail to the Thief style album.

More shit like 2+2=5
