Default NEW Jimmy Chamberlin interview from drumchannel.com

http://www.youtube.com/user/DrumChan.../1/2bw_a_4oxlE

Thats the clip with terry bozio... i was wondering if anyone, namely the drummers, had subscriptions or some way of seeing the entire interview. Jimmy speaks quite candidly about james, d'arcy, and billy. I'd love to see the whole interview!

Did you or someone else transcribe the interview portions? I cannot recall. Obviously I'm not going to be able to access this content without a paid subscription.

something none of you never stummbled across on this board...

Jimmy says there weren't major problems between him and Bill but '..the other 2 band members didn't want me in the band and I didn't want them in the band because they couldn't play.'.

To me, this sheeds new light and it figures the trouble between Jimm and Bill might not be even so big of a deal afterall.

Though, are 'the other 2' Ginger and Jeff or Ginger and Lisa (who are now out anyway?) or Lisa and Jeff?

Either way, 1 of them is out shortly after Jim left anyway.

Question 2, how come the new folks had bigger impact on Bill than his sidekick of 20 years, who made Zeitgeist with him way before the rest were recruited.

Finally, why has Jimm let himself being pushed out by newbies out of the band he created 20 years ago.

If he says the truth, few questionmarks are remaining unanswered...

maybe i'm not remembering correctly, but i took it as him talking about the original lineup and he was talking about d'arcy and james being unable to play

the way this is cut, it could be ment either way, but to me, and I only saw this part, it seems like he ment the later lineup.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bw_a_4oxlE

After all, if he was ok with James and D'arcy during all these years, why would he hit at them now when he left Bill for the first time in years!?

Don't know. Think he means the later lineup but don't have any other evidence.

So he's actually saying that James and Darcy didn't want him in the band?

The way Jimmy's entry into the band has been described in the past, it's really not surprising that Jimmy raised some eyebrows (i.e. Mullet-wearing jazz drummer with some real skillz and experience is told he is to play with two artsy hipster types, whose playing skills are just passable.) James and Billy were the two founding members of the band, but once Jimmy jumped on board, he seemed to replace James as Billy's BF, and James and D'arcy paired up in their own little corner. I'm sure the perception that Jimmy had all of the sudden usurped the throne as Billy's main man created some sort of friction.

I can understand Jimmy being frustrated with James for not being more skilled on guitar but its not as if being a skilled bass player is essential for this type of music.

no but you have to consider that the bass and drums usually bounce off each other during live shows. it must have sucked to have to have darcy keep up with you

i dunno. i don't often hear a live song where i'm like 'omg d'arcy you suuuuck.' i can't even think of one example off the top of my head. she kept it simple but i think played competently for the most part.

you can't even really hear her most of the time. and being "competent" and being "good" are really two different things.

She reminds me of the joke on Metalocalypse about how Toki and Murderface are mixed out of the final album all the time and nobody even notices.
