i have no idea why this album is released as Mark Kozelek as most of the SKM albums have been The Mark Kozelek Show; don't really see what the difference is anymore.

Ok bye have a good life
I love him so much. I was at the show where he called all of us in Raleigh a bunch of hillbillies or rednecks or something. Everyone got so offended, but nobody would stfu and listen to the man play. Great show. He makes me feel funny

mostly, yes. most tracks were from his self titled album, he also played a couple ones from albums to come, plus I can't live without my mother's love (he asked a random girl on stage to sing along and she turned out to be semi-famous here).

and someone requested you missed my heart. they played it despite the fact that the guitarist and pianist hadn't played it before. they were excellent though, he forgot the lyrics to one of the verses.

Aww man, I love MK. I need to go check out his last few releases. I Saw him play a Halloween gig in Glasgow one year where he wore a scream mask THE ENTIRE TIME. He refused to take it off which almost caused a riot.

I will check it out. I might have missed 2 or 3 releases at this point. I just can't get into his new music so much

I don't think he'll ever play that song again since Katy died.

this february will be the tenth year anniversary
of when I lost a friend to cancer and there's times I still can't believe it
but I'm so grateful for all the time we got to spend
in pescadero, point reyes, mendocino, san rafael, and fairfax
though I'm reminded of her passing especially when it rains
somehow the wonder of life always remains
and every christmas I get pictures of her growing daughter
and her face looks more and more and more and more and more and more and more like her mother's

His stuff is a bit hit and miss for me - albums as well as gigs. Sometimes it feels like he gets there and just phones it in. Other times he's absolutely amazing.

Last time I saw him, the show was great, but he picked a young girl (I'd say about 19) from the audience to sing with him, and he was just really sleazy. He made a joke about having a hard-on (was it a joke?), and at some point he stood a bit too close to her during the performance. I spoke to her briefly afterwards, and she seemed to have enjoyed the experience - as in, she made music herself, and she was happy to have been on stage, but she made it sound like she completely zoned out and was barely aware of him. It was definitely a case of him giving someone the opportunity to do something cool, and then sort of taking advantage of it.

Then not too long later, I read that he said some really sexist things about a journalist at a show in London, and I haven't really felt like seeing him live again. It's a shame because he can be good.

he was accompanied by a guitar player and a pianist that both really knew their shit, which was a relief since he sometimes seems to be playing with people that seemingly hardly know the songs. also he mentioned the new Sun Kil Moon album will be with them - with music written by those two musicians and lyrics by him, out on march 1st.
I'm so jealous, I wanna see him so bad.

I think he tried to chill out after the journalist incident, but what happened was this journalist was harassing him, calling him at his house (he doesn't give phone interviews) and then when he evaded her, she called his friends at their homes as well... and Koz flipped out and sang a song at a gig about how she wants to fuck him so bad or something, which she then spun into in Atlantic article... so I guess she got what she was after in the end.

That's like being rightfully upset with someone and responding, say, in a transphobic way. Not cool even if the other person is wrong.

Just pulled up his new album to listen to while I'm doing some mindless spreadsheets. Will pipe in with my unnecessary opinion later.

Also driving to WV later and it already sounds like good driving space out jams.
