i worked at papa john's quite a bit and it was great. it's kinda sorta fast food, but i always just delivered, which was great cause you don't have to stay in the store and interact with customers. 99% of people were happy to see me and didn't complain

my fav shitty job was as the night-cook at a nursing home when i was 19. my bf at the time had a best friend whose girlfriend worked there and was leaving so she got me the job.

i worked from 11 - 7pm, but would take a two hour lunch break most days. i had my own bathroom and worked alone from noon to 4 or so when my two dietary aids would help me (and i'd leave for lunch). i spent my first part of the shift prepping for the next night's dinner, then i cooked for 60+ old people, then i cleaned. very easy and zen, y0.

i met a girl from the show Intervention there. she was staying at rehab place that came over to volunteer at the nursing home. the worst was overnight at a gas station from 10 pm - 6am. also the last job i just had that i stayed at for the better part of 3 years. gotta a legal case pending against them and everything.

anyway, today was the first day of my new job. it's doing development work at a gov't watchdog organization (and my boss is friends or at least really good acquaintances with bill kurtis- are u kidding me?! if you know me, you know i loves him) and i'll be working part-time- about 30 hours a week. and in school part-time, too, at 13 hours.

i am so glad i got this job because i just really wanted it and have been working towards a similar role. my interviewer said i was over-qualified and wondered why i was applying, but i told her it made sense to me and everything i do relates to or supports something else i'm doing. i can't wait until it's been a few weeks and i don't have the general anxiety that comes along with a new job.

in hindsight i am glad the hospital job did not work out (failed the drug test in spite of not smoking for 3 weeks). even though it was full-time, i was prepared to only be in a school part-time and it paid $1.81 less than this place. i do not think the job would have been challenging and i would have gotten bored as hell sitting in a windowless room stuck a computi all day with no stimulation all day.

yeah i meant to say full-time there.

when i was prepared to work the full-time job i wasn't excited about, i dropped one class and was only enrolled in 7 hours. so glad the load has shifted and i have a job i can actually learn from and that utilizes me AND i get to take the classes i need.
