Datsyuk quit and went back to Russia. But the wings are still charged with his cap hit. they gave it to Arizona, which needs the 7 million to make the league minumum.

was bummed this happened, but it was mostly expected i guess. didn't realize that was the situation with arizona, that's nuts.

also ray bourque got arrested for DUI. he was drunk and rear-ended a minivan. the statement he put out was pretty dumb. made me kind of angry because in the last several years it's become quite clear that cam neely has nothing going on upstairs, just a dumbo. and now this for bourque.. all my hildhood bruins heros are dropping like flies. at least there's still adam oates..

He obvs need the money. Over the past few years he had entry of down time with injury. Gotta believe that was part of what went into his decision. That and maybe he really wanted to play at home while he's still able to. He's been out of Russia for a long time

It's fucked up that Arizona has such a shit payroll that they need to count millions from another team just to make the minimum.

i could be mistaken but i couldn't locate an NHL thread for the 2016-2017 season.. and here we are in the playoffs.

I'm moderately excited.

I always lose a little luster for the NHL playoffs cause there's just so much going on. The excitement of the beginning of the baseball season, the NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs... It's a lot to sink your teeth into.

I'm not sure if they have enough in the tank to get it done these playoffs. Maybe Jones is that guy who just gets it done this time of year, we'll see. Tonight is a good first step and provided they move on, it would be nice to avoid Anaheim.

Well the Lightning flamed out this year. Between long term injuries to a wide swathe of our players and obvious exhaustion from several long runs, it just wasn't meant to be this year. That said and with them out of the playoffs, fuck hockey and fuck all of you!

don't care about NHL playoffs. Wings out. 25 yr streak broken. Joe Louis arena done.

But i have season tickets to the Griffins so I"m only paying attention to the AHL for the rest of the season

yeah that's a bummer, i love watching stamkos and it has been frustrating not to have him healthy

I don't really have a dog in the hunt, but I can't help but watch at least a game a night. If I had to pick a team to back, I'd probably go with Nashville. Fuck Washington and Chicago.
