i don't think people talk enough about how Aliens is one of the first steps towards our godawful sequel blockbuster poison cinema
i mean its good yea but it takes a moody thriller & turns it into a big explosion action flick |

I think being the absolute opposite of Alien works in Aliens' favor. They are two sides of the same coin, perfectly complementing each other. It's all the stuff that came after that really put a damper on the mood.
You can blame it for the blockbuster sludge we currently sift through just as much as you can blame Nirvana for all the butt-rock slurry that's been clogging the radio for the last 15 years. Not really fair to blame a great piece of art/entertainment for crap that came in its wake. |
