Why don't you Debby-Downers check out some of those tracks before you hit me with all of the negative rhetoric?

Why don't you stop making the same threads again and again?

Besides, we're all busy listening to Mr Key's EDM over in the music forum but you probably won't like it because it's not made with guitars and drums

Answering for Europe: never heard of them before. That one started off like some sappy stuff I actually enjoy (Starsailor or I am Kloot - the whiney stuff people love to make fun of), but the vocal melody is kinda... awful. dadadada *DA-hightnotepuke*.
Don't like his voice either.

REM for people who wished REM had built their aesthetic around getting on the F•R•I•E•N•D•S soundtrack

I like these guys, it's nice, simple contemplative music.

I saw everyone salivating over "The National" in the other thread, and realized that the Hip put out a similar vibe but with MUCH better songwriting. Since these guys are largely unknown outside of Canada I thought they might be of some interest to you folks.

How can you resist the uplifting chorus of "It's a good life if you don't weaken"?

"For a good life we just might have to weaken
And find somewhere to go
Go somewhere we're needed
Find somewhere to grow
Grow somewhere we're needed"

Beautiful stuff.

Or how can you not like the bridge in "Bobycaygeon" at the 2:04 mark that the song busts into totally unexpectedly?

This is one of those bands that takes a few listens to enjoy

you bring so much joy into my life

it's amazing how little it takes to impress you. those lyrics are so incredibly banal and non insightful they border on parody

i think they have more in common with coldplay

It's not just the lyrics, it's the vibe of the song and how it leads into the chorus, and ultimately just the feel of the chrous with the message of the lyrics

And fuck that man. Coldplays bloody terrible. Coldplay to Radiohead is what Nickelback is to Pearl Jam.
