Default Monitor Brightness?!

I need some help, I have my brightness and contrast controls set to the max but my monitor is still ridicoulsy dark. What can I do. Thanks.

Yeah that happened to my old Samsung and I had to buy a new one. I got a 3 year warranty on it in case it happened again. The new one is NEC and hasn't faded yet.

Same thing happened to my old JVC tv after a few years. Strange, cause my Silver tv is still going strong after 20 years.

check your display settings. sometimes your video card will have extended options to crank it up

This is the right answer. It's especially important if you're running native Windows drivers on your video card. Go to your video card company's website, and download their drivers and any software that comes with it. Most of the usual suspects have Gamma correction options that should do the trick.
