Default How big would MGMT be right now if they didn't make the conscious decision to not

continue with their sounds from Oracular Spectacular? Album stands the test of time 7 years later and is one of the greatest albums ever made. They decidedly went away from that sound and went towards a more psychedelic experimental sound knowing it would greatly diminish their popularity and only allow them a small niche audience. Their two following albums were good but not special like OS.

I would have to think they would be one of the biggest bands in the world. They could have had that but turned it down. I don't know if that's admirable or heartbreaking.

I feel more bad for humanity than them. We missed out on whatever the evolution of OS could have been instead they purposely wanted to make and do something different.

I still partly believe the reason for that is because trying to do so would have been too much pressure and that wasn't something they were able to deal with.

the end of the title is "suck" since i have banana on ignore

and the answer is well, if MGMT didn't suck then i guess they'd be pretty big because they don't suck

It had multiple hit singles. That's besides the point. The entire album start to finish was great.

I'd say it's the 00's Sublime by Sublime.

I'm not the one basing it's greatness over how many hit songs it has, that's you.

And Sublime's self titled album might be the best of the 90's, it's at least in the discussion. Not that OS is the best album of the 00's but it is one of the best albums of the decade and that puts it in the discussion for one of the best albums ever made.

I just like the electric feel song. very well produced (if brickwalled as fuck). great video too.

waiting to pretend kind of ran it's course, and I never like Kids

I listened to their second album and it was interesting but not worth a second listen

You're the one bringing up hits. They had more than one hit but that is besides the point. The quality of an album isn't determined by the commercial success of that album.

Clean your ears and listen to the music.

You should check out their 3rd album. It's better than the 2nd. Still nothing like OS but it is good in it's own right.

In Rainbows (both discs) by Radiohead is probably the greatest album of all time.

What are you even attempting to go off about?

What artists do I like that have come to be since 2010? To name a few off the top of my head that I have gotten into over the past 4 years and listen to a lot : Tame Impala, OFWGKTA, Danny Brown, Grimes, Divine Fits, Chance The Rapper, Scout Niblett, Beach House, Smith Westerns, Courtney Barnett, Kenderick Lamar, Action Bronson, and 2 Chainz.

What the point of listing that is I do not know.

I think you're trying to get this life pursuit of yours that you are some how the definition of hip (hip, a word I've never heard anyone use seriously except yourself which I find hilarious and like to keep using in reference to you). This whole thread reminds me of when you finally discovered the Savages a few months after they had already become somewhat prominent and you kept talking about them as this amazing band even though they only had only made one song worth a damn .
