now going on a short tour
to pick up a few of the things I've left behind somewhere. My coat, hoodie, passport, an electronic key in one place and my iPod and headphones at another..
I lost so many sweaters/hoodies that I barely have any left. This ain't no metaphor. Metaphoria. I left my first bass in a train once, and never got it back. I blame Radiohead, because it was not long after Kid A was released and I was kind of blown away listening to it. Anyone else forget lots of stuff? Who are you people anyway |

I am a fairly absent minded person but usually I am good about not leaving important things behind.
However recently, I have been on an all out forgetathon. Within the last few weeks I have lost a belt, my phone charger, my wallet, my phone charger again, $20 cash... how do people remember things?? |

Once I left my wallet on the roof of the car while I strapped my son into his car seat. Got into the car and drove away. A lady two cars behind watched in horror as I drove away, my wallet and all the cash inside rolled off, and a car with four teenage boys in front of her jumped out, grabbed the cash, and then sped off. I know about the lady because she wrote a detailed note to the police when she dropped off my wallet. She even had the plate number of the car, but the police didn’t understand, so when I came in they said, you know, your drivers license is not tied to this vehicle registration. I know, I said. This is the vehicle registered to the person who took the cash from my wallet. They were confisued. I pointed to the note and said, it says right here. They were still confused. I said forget it, and walked away.
Another time, I realised I’d left something in the car, went out to get it and found that I’d left a door wide open and the keys were in the door. My kids are as bad as me, leave stuff everywhere, forget a lot of things...and I can’t even get angry at them. |

i remember how you forgot your work laptop at a bar, jj. luckily it wasn't stolen, and you were able to pick it up the next day, but it was soaked in beer.

i very rarely lose anything, but i just went through like my fourth fucking umbrella that i lost just now. like, i always take my valuable with me, but something about my brain just bypasses remembering to TAKE THE FUCKING UMBRELLA WITH ME. probably because the weather here is kinda crazy and alternates between rainy and sunny, so i can go somewhere when it's raining and when i'll step out it's nice and sunny so whoopidy doo, no need for nothin'. then next time it rains i'd be like OH GOD DAMNIT.

For the longest time the only thing I had ever lost was a Siamese dream and Frankie Sparrow CD. It happened at the same time, and it's entirely possible they just got stolen from my bag.
but recently I lost my earbuds. it doesn't make sense. I think they're probably under my bed/dresser even if I've vaguely looked. I am a bad looker. My gf finds most of the things I misplace - is that the same? i'm going to be that old man "have you seen my keys?" |

i am scatter-brained for sure; i misplace things all the time. in one week i lost a passport, my mp3 player, and then my wallet. scarves, gloves, sweaters, you name it. if it is not attached to my body, i can lose it.
i lost my passport when i left an entire backpack on the train. it was filled with clothes i was going to donate and i was carrying another tote bag for my books. i guess i wasn't used to carrying two big ol' bags so i left the one under my seat. none of this ever upsets me since it's just stuff and i can try to get it back or replace it. tim would sometimes get on my case, but it felt silly that he should take it harder than i do. now we just laugh and laugh when i lose things. |

I love it, never going back... the tiny chips you use for instrument cases or bikes - I use them. for my work laptop bag, amongst other things.... this way I don't have to wonder in which of the 5 spots I ate in the past 12 hours that bag might be! next on my list are the tiny key rings with gps, because oh boy, I did not make many friends at work today by misplacing the keys to all cars. (found them after 2 hours, I had left them all on the board over the bathroom sink in my room) |

Hah, that's nothing. Noyen is 214, he pays someone to act like his great-grandkid's memory, who acts like his grandkid's memory, who acts like his kid's memory, who acts like his memory. He told me all this once in 1942 but he probably doesn't remember

Sometimes when I go out in the morning I'll tell myself that I've locked the front door, using several different variations on the sentence. it helps.
Then I'll remember I've forgot my phone and have to go back anyway |

I should do this, whenever I drive off I always entirely forget whether I locked the door and set the alarm and it's unsettling
