I'm cool with all of them in varying degrees but I probably respect Corganist the most even though I rarely agree with what he's saying.

Default Re: What do you think of these political board netphorians?

Bittertrance - I don't really know him for his political acumen as he doens't post here that much. But he has a good taste in music?
BlueStar - I just get the feeling she is a tool for the moderate wing of the democratic party. Or rather she is just promoting on this board whoever she happens to be employed under at the time. Too bad she wasn't working for the Dean campaign last year.
Bornentertainer - People like this are the worst because they are the ones who are voting and have the most elementary grasp on politics.
Corganist - He is actually one of my favorite people here and not cause he brings "balance" to this board. I mostly like his pleasant attitude here. He rarely resorts to flames and insults. His posts are far less assertive and arrogant than some of the conservatives here.
Deadswan - She surprises me lately. I don't think of her as a big fan of politics but she has made some great points lately.
Debaser - Alex is the man. Probably the most knowledgable guy and best debater here.
DeviousJ - Like Corganist I think he brings a better sense of understanding and calm. Also guy is really smart and articulate. He gets to the heart of the matter.
********** - Dom is cool thoguh I typically don't like the Angry Liberal type. He seems to complain more than anything.
Dreamsofdali - I haven't really taken anything away or learned anything from her posts but she is hardly annoying either. She seems like the activist type which is pretty cool and admirable.
Jczeroman - I really dislike this guy and not because I'm opposed to libertarianism but because he feels the need to inject his politics into every single little thing on and off the political board. Its annoying more than anything else. He takes his politics way too seriously.
HomeChicago - He's a shallow debater and by that I mean he only looks at things from the surface and doesn't erally look at the issues within. He rats off all the typical elementary liberal talking points or takes the banal outsider route of 'lets stop all this political bickering'
Knight0440 - Pretty much a joke. posting from indymedia doesn't really advance your points, guy. seems to be brainwashed by the far left.
Madmanmead - This guy is also annoying. its like having bill o'reilly on our own board. fuck off.
Mariner - since he is Colin Lite, he is not very annoying.
Mpp - I don't really notice him here.
Neopryn - he actually has some good comebacks here but other than that pretty much a cheerleader on the sidelines.
Nimrods Son - seems much less retarded these days but his posts are still as predictable.
Pastrysharp - welcome addition to this board. I've seen him make strong points from all sides.
Patrick - pretty much an article copy and paste guy.
Pmack - fat fuck
Sean Casey - seems like a novice here. I hope to indoctrinate him one day.
Spa ced - Good voice on the gay issue.
Sppunk - ugh. I don't take any of his posts seriously. He seems to enjyo making up history facts and kind of just says things without thinking them trhoguh.
The Omega Concern - i love this guy. he needs to post more conspiracy theories.
Timb - i generally ignore him
Transluscent - ???
Trotskilicious - He's smart but I do'nt see him posting here toom uch even thoguh he posted a lot about politics back in the day. he knows his shit and knows the dynamics of people and issues to have a well informed political opinion.
Wally - wally iz cute
ZackZ - prog rock

I'd really like to know what you're problem with me is, really. It's also good to know that the very very few posts I've ever made here has given you such a broad and informed grasp on how I think politically. It really...negates every statement you make about me.

Default Re: What do you think of these political board netphorians?

Bittertrance - dont really remember anything of his
BlueStar - i cant really take her seriously. shes intensely political, but in the worst imaginable way
Bornentertainer - i dont ever recall reading anything by her here
Corganist - hes actually kind of charming in an odd way. a lot of this has to do with how much he interjects weird folk sayings and idioms in his writing, which i always notice and think is pretty amiable. in general, the tone i get from his posts is pretty nice. he truly is excessively antagonistic, though. i refuse to believe that he believes in a lot of the stances he takes up and just does it for the sport or out of simple blood lust -- bullying on 1 star posters that come in and use some dumb cliche or whatever. i dont understand why he feels compelled to do that so much
Deadswan - havent seen her post here
Debaser - hes pretty committed, but in a good way
DeviousJ - hes finally showing his claws. this is almost exclusively with regards to that oaf madmanmead. its fun to watch. overall, he operates from such a firmly clean and logical foundation that he always produces something worth reading. he also tends to come at an issue from a perspective i and others havent really seemed to consider. thats something i often notice
********** - i thought he just dabbled or whatever
Dreamsofdali - i think he just posts a few words here and there, usually affirming some point someone else made or something like that
Jczeroman - im pissed mayfuck mentioned how much of whore this guy is because i havent seen it mentioned before and i wanted to be the first. thinking about it now, im sure people have brought it up. but, christ, its really something. the apparent completeness of his obliviousness to how idiotic he sounds doing what he does calls into question a lot. hes such an unbelievable slut for reciting his political spiels. he never ever misses an opportunity to trumpet his wisdom. you could mention dogs vs cats as pets, and hed take the mic and launch into some pre-recorded propaganda about how dogs are socialist pieces of shit that hunt in packs and cats embody the true independent libertarian spirit, or some idiocy. i really must emphasize this point. he must be made aware how hes coming across. on paper, he seems well read enough, but it also astounds me how little of this shines through
HomeChicago - dont really remember that much. posts a lot of articles if i recall
Knight0440 - we need at least one person like this around here
Madmanmead - his inclusion into this list is kind of retarded. hes just an average moron, what else is there to say
Mariner - dont really remember
Mayfuck - he just kind of snipes and shit, which is fine i guess. he should get down and dirty more often. he seems really lazy
Mpp - dont remember
Neopryn - wtf is this
Nimrods Son - its impossible not to get the vivid impression of someone reading from their notes when he posts. he hardly seems to have one real idea in his head. this impression i get is not at all only because hes adopted this stunningly idiotic rule of only posting one sentence blurts either. hes also shamelessly in love with jczeroman, which gives me the creeps and is a truly vile thing to witness. they really do make an awful, awful couple. hes also just plain stupid, despite what anybody ever said. i dont buy it
Pastrysharp - i like him and hes good around here
Patrick - i love the liberal-and-proud tone hes adopted recently, even though he did it with some irony
Pmack - dont know
Sean Casey - he doesnt post here at all
Spa ced - same
Sppunk - this comment seems to perpetually go in one ear and out the other with him so i dont know what purpose there is in saying it again, but its pretty hard to see past his pomposity. im sure he has some interesting thing to say but i cant see them. i also want to bring up how much pleasure he seems to get out of posting ap newswires of breaking events before anyone else, which would be annoying but is actually pretty cute
The Omega Concern - isnt he dead
Timb - i actually like him
Transluscent - really dont know
Trotskilicious - he gets into more political debates on the general board it seems
Wally - fun
ZackZ - his attitude is awsome, but he is stupid

My apologies in advance if I call any guys "she" and girls "he." Its hard to tell on here sometimes. I tried to be gender neutral where I was unsure.

Bittertrance - I don't remember too much about this person other than that they typically fall on the opposite side of things than I do.
BlueStar - I like the "from the trenches" insight that she gives. Other than that, I can't really recall her really posting enough for me to have too strong an opinion on her views. Probably one of the most vanilla moderates we've got around here.
Bornentertainer - Remember the name, but not any posts.
Corganist - Mostly harmless.
Deadswan - I only began to notice this person's posts very recently (the abortion thread in particular). We didn't agree on things so much, but it wasn't bad discussion or anything.
Debaser - I don't know if the feeling is mutual, but I personally love debating him. I always have to try and bring out my 'A game' in the many threads where we lock horns. I just think he tends to get too emotional and/or personal with the discussion at times. He seems much more likely than most to curse me out or question my intelligence. Despite that, I respect him in general and hope we're cool on a man to man basis. I certainly have no hard feelings. In a lot of ways our debates on here are a whole lot like the ones I have IRL with my best friends (only my friends really pull no punches).
DeviousJ - Very intelligent. Writes very well. Even though I usually don't agree with him, he always states his case very well and does a good job of responding to counterpoints. I always enjoy our exchanges here, even if they tend to get on the long side at times.
********** - Has a good heart. Seems really pessimistic about politics generally though. We've had a couple really good discussions.
Dreamsofdali - I can't remember offhand anytime she has been anything less than nice. I generally don't see things her way, but I think her heart's in the right place.
Jczeroman - A libertarian true believer. I agree with the general premise of a lot of his views, though I think he tends to carry some of them way past their practicality. But I guess that's just the difference between Republican and Libertarian. Otherwise, he comes off as quite well-educated. I can't count the number of times he's made points I wanted to make, but did it better.
HomeChicago - Posting a bit more after what seems like a while away. Usually quite reasonable. Always seems willing to listen to counterpoints and strive for middle ground.
Knight0440 - Our representative of the left wing fringe. I find him entertaining, funny, and scary all at the same time. He seems to have limited himself to just posting articles and one-liners as of late. Wish he'd debate us more.
Madmanmead - I remember him from back when I used to lurk/occasionally post on AMSP. He's okay in my book. He seems to have gotten under the skin of some of the people on the left side of the spectrum, but I'd be willing to bet he probably has more in common politically with them than they think. Though you gotta hand it to a guy who'd go even further than I would to defend Bill O'Reilly.
Mariner - I only have a vague memory of some of his posts. I wanna say he's more into posting short comments and the like. Generally something worthwhile though, as I recall.
Mayfuck - Someone I wish would post here more often. I think he could hold his own with us here.
Mpp - Another person who only pops in occasionally. He's cool with me. We legal types gotta stick together.
Neopryn - More notable on the Gen and SP boards. I can only remember a couple of short comments here. Not enough to form any strong opinions.
Nimrods Son - I think he tries to avoid getting down and dirty here, and makes an effort to kinda stay above the fray, which I respect. I think some people here confuse the brevity of his posts for a lack of argument or knowledge, but I don't sense that. It looks to me like he just doesn't want to get bogged down in the same drawn out stuff some of the rest of us like so much. I think he brings much needed levity to a lot of threads here, so he's cool with me.
Pastrysharp - Very fair and knowledgable. Its always good to have newcomers on the board who can go toe to toe with the best of us. Hope he sticks around.
Patrick - Only pops in from time to time, but good for a little discussion when he's around.
Pmack - Another former AMSP great. For that reason alone I can't help but respect the guy, even if I don't agree with him most of the time here.
Sean Casey - I know he's posted here a couple times, but I don't recall anything about the posts. Sorry.
Spa ced - If I remember right, he usually makes his biggest impact in our occasional gay marriage threads. Comes off as very sincere, and argues from the heart. I respect that, even if it doesn't make a very good political argument.
Sppunk - Doesn't do much to gain my attention one way or the other. Strange, considering he's a mod.
The Omega Concern - I like having this guy around, if only to point to and say "See? I'm not that far to the right!"
Timb - For some reason, I don't think I've really participated in many of the threads this person does. I know I've seen the name before, but don't have much of an opinion one way or the other.
Transluscent - I remember some short comments, but not much else.
Trotskilicious - Like someone else said, he seems to post more about politics on the Gen board than here. He needs to get out of AAA and come back to the major leagues.
Wally - Another good contributor who's always good for a decent point or two in a discussion.
ZackZ - Has only posted a few times to my knowledge. Mostly typical inoffensive stuff. He's alright.

Sorry I couldn't think of anyone to add. I'm sure there are other contributors left off. But hey, I'm cool with all you guys and gals. This board is all good clean bickering fun to me, and it gives me a good excuse to keep up with the news and read up on stuff that I normally wouldn't otherwise.

Default Re: What do you think of these political board netphorians?

Here are some. The others I can't get into my head right now.

BlueStar - I think, even though our last conversation discussed morality versus reason, that she is a very reasonable person. Regardless of whether she bases her views on morals or logic, she carries them well and is an asset to her causes. I am most impressed that she strives for consistency. I disagree with many of her views but I've always seen her as independed, which means more to me than most things.

Corganist - I like him. Sometimes, I get the impression he tows the party line, but that is the natural disparity between Ls and Rs as he already mentioned. Overall, he is well informed and comes to solid decisions which he defends well. Very articulate.

Deadswan - he asks good questions and causes people to think outside the box. A valuable asset to any discussion.

Debaser - I love debaser. I see him as the biggest tower here, although recently he has been willing to look outside the liberal dem's worldview. He will be a free-market capitalist before he dies, mark my words. I respect his loyalty to his cause and his unquenchable zeal to see what he believes is right argued to the bitter end.

DeviousJ - well respected. He's a guru. He is the UN embodied in one man - a natural peacemaker. I listen to every word he says and have never found myself stereotyping or judging his words.

Gurr8 - We have some things in common morally, but we have very, very sharp disagreements in other things. However, he has helped me see certain faults in my logic and person that have helped me be a better debater and have more consisten ideals. I am thankful for that.

Knight0440 - neat guy. I wonder what he's like in person. He's got some real bitterness towards conservatives in general and I hope he's had some meanignful encounters here to help see that we're not all evil.

Mariner - well principled, articulate, considerate. I wish I could debate more like him.

Mayfuck - Julio is a wild card. Sometimes he comes down as the voice of reason, other times he makes some of the worst points possible. He might say somethign meaningful and then wreck it by saying another thing that is totally inconsistent. He's passionate about things, but he has shown the ability to think beyond his feelings and work with people. Sometimes he' s an ass just for the hell of it.

Mpp - me likey. MPP has always had my respect because he refuses to get into extreme emotional seriousness when debating. Completely clear-headed and cool. Ideal for talking with me. I really think we would get along well. He refuses to get drawn into personal attacks, while keeping the debate in perspective.

Nimrods Son - very smart and also very experienced, which he doesn't get credit for. Many things that he knows are beyond theory and are things he's actually seen and felt. Again, terribly valuable to a community full of ideological college shits like us.

Sean Casey - Sean has the same values Nimrod has. Keeps things lite, which is essential. He has solid views, but doesn't feel the need to interject them very much.

Sleeper - I haven't read much of his stuff lately. He always struck me as the debaser of the socialist/green party. He spouts a lot of pre-written unoriginal content. But unlike debaser, he seems to hold onto this stuff like a safety blanket. His ideology is like a religion to him and he seems to view anyone that differs with any sense of purpose as a heretic and one who should be excommunicated from his presence. I think in a few years he'll be different, but for now we're stuck with what we got.

Spa ced - I dont' see him on the politics board. He has deep convictions but is open to other ideas, which has really impressed me in the past.

Sppunk - can get emotionally invested in an arguement, but overall stays on the level. He can be a good "middle ground" in many debates and strikes me as a person who listens before he speaks. He used to be mroe of an ideologue several years ago, but has since been tempered by life and I feel he is now one of the most well-rounded people on here.

The Omega Concern - nice guy, independent of party.

Trotskilicious - probably the opposite of mpp. He's passive-agressive to a T -- holding grudges, allowing juvenile emotional outbursts at some of the most innapropriate times, complains a lot but refuses to ever offer any solutions. He cannot think or express himself clearly unless he actively silences the voices in his head screaming at him to go on a rant or unrelated outburst. If the political board had corners, I would expect that he be sent to stand in one until he calms down.

Bittertrance – My secret partner in crime here. We talk quite a bit about politics IRL. He is my best source of what the right is saying and doing because the man immerses himself everyday into right wing radio and foxnews. He’s quite the masochist in that regard.
BlueStar – I admire her for actually involving herself in politics. She doesn’t post as much as me, but makes more of a difference than I do.
Bornentertainer – I don’t really have an impression of him. Should post more.
Corganist – The yin to my yang. My opinion of you cycles from begrudging respect to outright contempt. It feels like arguing against a wall. Sometimes I get the feeling that he purposely ignores facts or the obvious in order to be on the other side of me. I wish he would explore news sources from the other side as opposed to news just filtered from the right or the right wing’s interpretation of what the other side is saying. But if he weren’t here, then I probably wouldn’t be posting much and I appreciate his civility if not his reasoning.
Deadswan – I have no impression yet
DeviousJ – My favorite netphorian here. I remember our long (and only?) debate about the pending Iraq Invasion years ago. I was actually pro-war at the time. In retrospect, DeviousJ was oh so right and I was oh so wrong.
********** – I enjoy his posts
Dreamsofdali – good poster on the board. Thoughtful.
Gurr8 - I have no impression yet
Future Boy – I enjoy his posts
Jczeroman – Obviously a thinker. The champion of libertarianism on this board. But I think sometimes he’s unrealistic (just like libertarianism). I was shocked when I saw his anti-choice stance a few weeks ago. It betrays his libertarian ideals, imho. I enjoy his posts, but I’m mixed-market-capitalist-4-life.
HomeChicago – I have a schizophrenic impression of him. I thought in the beginning he was a righty, but now he seems like a lefty. Maybe I have mixed him up with someone else. I need to pay more attention.
Knight0440 – I like him. I think our views are quite similar
Madmanmead – I can’t respect somebody that worships Bill O’Reilly and uses namecalling when he’s on the ropes.
Mariner – I vaguely remember having a couple long debates with him years ago. I vaguely remember that he was pretty good at it.
Mayfuck – I enjoy his insightful comments on this board. One of the few on this board that has made me think of new things or an issue in a new light.
Mpp – His posts are meaningful. I don’t necessarily agree with him, tho.
Neopryn - I have no impression yet
Nimrods Son – He comes off as not even having a full grasp of his own views he spouts. Most of his posts are an exact parrot of a right wing radio host’s talking point of the day. A wannabe libertarian (just like many right wing radio hosts). Always assigning opinions to me that I did not express in the first place.
Pastrysharp – Relative newcomer and welcome addition. I hope he carries the torch for the left everytime I get burnt out or too busy at work and disappear from board every other month.
Patrick – a lot of articles. I want more discussion from him.
Pmack - I have no impression yet
Sean Casey – Just likes to push buttons. The times he decides to be meaningful, I usually concur.
Sleeper – Good thoughtful poster.
Spa ced - I have no impression yet.
Sppunk – I agree with him a lot. Too left for me on some things.
The Omega Concern - wingnut
Timb - I have no impression yet
Transluscent - I have no impression yet
Trotskilicious – Use to debate politics quite a bit. Seems to be semi-retired. I miss it.
Wally – Another good lefty on this board
ZackZ - I have no impression yet

Default Re: What do you think of these political board netphorians?

Bornentertainer - seems okay. i'm only familiar with him from one thread, and our exchange their got a bit hairy, which is bound to happen in a forum like this. fair play to him/her.
Corganist - really bright guy. his posts push me to think twice before hitting the "submit reply" button. he consistantly produces well rounded opinions, and in general, i wish more conservatives that i knew were as thoughful as he is.
Deadswan - seems thoughful, although i really need to read more of his/her posts.
Debaser - this guy is a wealth of information, and really seems dedicated to his cause. he's one of the few people i can think of that espouse more liberal views than i do, without comming off as a nutty.
DeviousJ - extremely pragmatic. everyone could stand to take a page out of this guys book.
Dreamsofdali - freaks me out from time to time, but i suspect we may have gotten off on the wrong foot.
Futureboy - seems okay.
HomeChicago - is pretty open minded and extremely respectful of dissenting opinions. i'm a fan.
Knight0440 - really freaks me out...
Madmanmead - i doubt we'll ever see eye to eye on much of anything. this guy doesn't seem to make much sense to me and it doesn't have anything to do with his right leaning attitude.
Mayfuck - i dig the way he's willing to mix it up without holding a grudge. he also makes some good points
Neopryn - i've never seen him post here, but he has great taste in music.
Nimrods Son - he doesn't give an inch, and in most cases i can respect that. he and corganist are probably the most valuable componants to this board. without them, there wouldn't be much to do other than pat each other on the back.
Pastrysharp - i love this guy!
Patrick - he's another guy who doesn't mind mixing it up and i enjoy that.
Sleeper - he's a nice guy and makes a compelling point usually.
Spa ced - very passionate and a fellow texan to boot. i'm a fan.
Sppunk - should post more. seems like a bright guy

Bittertrance - i should post more often, but usually i just let debaser do it for me. we talk about it so much at work i feel like i am posting for some reason
BlueStar - knows good strategies and i enjoy reading what she writes
Bornentertainer - i'm probably wrong but it seems like she rides nimrod's son's coattails
Corganist - like arnold, you make me so angry someitmes. probably because i listen to the right wing shows all day and thne i see you writing the same exact things i hear on them, but with more clarity so i can forgive you for that. i get the feeling you're a cool guy when not talking politics even though you like the green weezer album
Deadswan - very smart, i remember seeing you post on here and thinking you were very insightful
Debaser - we get each other riled up at work all day so if you guys are calling him a partisan hack it's partly my fault. the smartest dude i know in real life.
DeviousJ - smartest dude i know online, you're great and even though everyone tells you so you don't have a big head about it
********** - has a position but usually kind of knee jerk
Dreamsofdali - compassionate, articulate, i like you
Gurr8 - smart guy doesnt play the partisan lines which is very cool
Jczeroman - i disagree with you on most things but you are extremely smart and seem like a good honest man.
HomeChicago - i cant tell where you stand sometimes, which could be good or bad
Knight0440 - lefty, likes to argue thats all i can come up with
Madmanmead - is good for a wtf factor here
Mariner - level headed
Mayfuck - i agree with julio the most on this board. your posts make the most sense to me personally and logically.
Neopryn - good wherever he is
Nimrods Son - sometimes i think you're pretty funny and then sometimes i wonder if you just like getting the left people riled up. i know you are smart but i think oreilly and savage influence you too much.
Pastrysharp - kind of new not sure yet

You do just as much name-calling as anyone. I know I'm a total prick, but I don't try to assume the moral high ground. There's a difference.

I namecall when I'm on offense, not when I'm reeling from deviousj's posts. That's the subtle but key difference. It's not a moral highground I'm taking. It's about political gamesmanship.

Eh, whatever fuckface.

There are some points even I can't argue with too strongly.

I still like my name though.
