For some fans to be upset at a band that plays 48 songs over 2 nights, the great majority of which are old, shows you the level of insanity we deal with. The word is called entitled. If they are entitled to demand, we are entilted to be who we are without reservation. There is no apology in that. We feel good, happy, and strong, and that should be the story here. Nobody owns us. We own us.

Billy isn't kidding. that is insanity. PLAY 1979 to STOP PLAYING BWBW. theres no even ground. he is pulled in both directions.

Our message has been consistent: don't ask us to do or be anything that will once again lead to the death of the band. The band's survival comes first. We can debate aesthetics and marketing platforms later. If you want us to fall away, fade away like some dust and relics it aint gonna happen. We are here to stay. We deserve to be here, and are proud of what we have gotten right thru the years. And we are truly grateful to those fans that trust us like family. The kind of extended family where you can make a mistake, say something not quite the right way, and still be welcomed home. There will never be anything wrong with flying too close to the sun.

I just worry that an active rejection of fairweather fans will lead to suspicion and eventual rejection of 'diehards' or just good fans who are interested in new music.. I mean, at the Q&A during 5star on monday, BC was like "some of you in here may think you are true fans, but for every one of you in here, there are 5 more 'true' fans outside rejecting us."

What you don't get is that he's ALWAYS been like this. He just acted better about it. He didn't go off on his fanbase like some fucking kid. It's pathetic. Quit putting Bill Corgan on some fucking pedestal. He's not worth it, not matter how much he thinks he is.

Eh, i'm mostly done with this topic. I could have made a bigger presence felt in the bigger thread, but why? What I say goes in one ear and out the other with you people. the difference between now in then is essentially his fame, i'm pretty sure. back when he did go 'against the grain' and was 'alternative' he had masses of people follow him religiously. those people have lost faith in him and now he's trying to hide that he's desperately trying to claw them back behind a facade of "we don't give a shit, we're doing what we want and making it accessible".

He was the flavor of the month. Different era and different times. He has to change with the times. He was never going to maintain that amount of a fanbase without listening to the fanbase. What does he do instead? He blames the fanbase, the exbandmates, the industry, blah blah blah. Take some fucking responsibility and just accept the fact that you could have "fucked up".
