what i got out of the piece:

it seems like he is finally at peace with not being #1 anymore and he's not trying anymore.
he is just trying new things to try them
he says zwan and tfe were wasted years

he talks about his past success not affecting him anymore as well as his past success being used as a bar against him. i think he has also dealt with that personally - that original band was his identity, for better or worse, and it has taken him a long time to realize that. he spent his entire 20s and more in the band.

he can complain about the outside world (fans, the record biz) still expecting him to be 1997 billy but i think he is realizing that also he has been expecting himself to be 1997 billy.

i'm glad to see him letting that go.

it's the admission that he's just futzing around that sells it for me

the three tone test implying he was a musical savant... classic corgan delusions.

my mom says I'm the most special boy in the world too.

Because it is a made up story, why would he only dish this in recent years. This is something billy would have loved to tell people in the 90s.

I haven't watched the show but someone on twitter told me that they looked her up and her FB has a pic of her and dave grohl. Still laughing.

But some are referencing the 90s, never heard it in the 90s. I think he is lying. I bet his whole life is a lie.

gracing completely over machina era minus one off-handed reference from jeff when listing all the original-era lineup albums

starting to look great for the reissue!

It won't stick. He's said pretty much the same thing after every album cycle since Zeitgeist. He'll be pissed and threatening to pull the plug on the band again when the next album and manages to get even less attention than Monuments.
