At this point, if I had the ability to, I'd switch to hookups over dating. Dating has become exhausting. Trying to think of fun date ideas and work out logistics and pay for people who've probably never had to go through the effort of setting up a date themselves, and yet will ghost you or breadcrumb you regardless.

But it's not really a choice for me. I can't just decide to hookup. I'm not attractive enough for this to be up to me according to my whims. There have been flukes where I've come close, but some circumstances always intervened to prevent it from coming (literally) to fruition.

Some people can have a different partner every weekend, if they really want to. Others have to settle for "getting lucky" sometimes. And yet others don't even have that benefit.

yes, and things got weirder. She messaged me today asking if I want to come spend the weekend at her place. I mean... that's weird, right? We have said for a long time we would hang out again at some point, but now she is inviting me to sleep on her air mattress. Also this person broke up with me because she had a sexual identity crisis and came out as gay, but since then I know she has dated other men.

I think she's suddenly lonely for whatever reason and thinks you will ease that for her. Do as you please, but I wouldn't invest too much emotionally because from what little bits I know of the story she has no problem using people and needs to have endless attention and external validation. Let me guess, is she single right now? It is very hard to be friends or FWB with an ex. Somebody gonna get a hurt real bad.
