this is true but it can't be straight zero across the board. there's some -3's and -1's to be had. whatever scale you feel is necessary.

i find spirits to be an instance where corgan's flash-in-the-pan "hey lets do this thing right now!" sensability worked, for the most part, in his favor

This. Those shows even made Widow sound good!

It's not really that he can't write songs anymore it's just that they're either left on the floor or messed up in the studio.

Like a butcher with a shop full of offal.

yeah i agree. i liked Spirits version of Widow. the studio version is of course crap ... but i don't care i still like the Spirits version. it is clear that Billy still got it. new live Oceania stuff is strong, Spirits stuff was good ... lots of things to like. Circular Change is solid.

Not a fan of Spirits In The Sky. But forgot about Emerald Green Is The Color...was a good Gish-y/Zwan-y song.

I'm glad that they didn't record Caroline for Teargarden, I prefer for songs I like not to get the MLP treatment.

Their cover of Long Haired Lady was sick. Corgan is a fantastic songwriter, but I'd say when he covers a song, at least half the time it blows the original out of the water.
