I still think Shallowed should be banned. It's got nothing to do with any linkage whatsoever. Just pure personally animosity.

Shallowed you better watch out! This ain't no threat fool, this is a promise!

Winter is the best. The more gloom the better. Perfect for drinking coffee smoking herbs listening to French shoegaze and reading Arthur Conan Doyle.

“Fool of a Took!" he growled. "This is a serious journey, not a hobbit walking-party. Throw yourself in next time, and then you will be no further nuisance.”

Pippin keeps fucking up. First he brings down the entire goblin horde of Moria on the Fellowship which results in Gandalf (a Maia sent from Valinor) getting murdered. Then he decides to steal the Palantir of Orthanc which results in a nazgul fly by and precipitates Sauron's attack on Rohan and Gondor. This displeases the Grey Pilgrim aka Mithrandir aka Gandalf.

But later they make peace on the back of Shadowfax, the cuddly halfling nesting in the wizard's arms, draped in his snowy beard... the aged one recites poetry and answers the inquisitive hobbits many queries.

But then he fucks up again by blabbing to Denethor and pledging allegiance to a madman. Nice going, Took!

I love the series. Haven't read anything else by Tolkein, just yet. Only this particular series. I intend to read more, though.

I could not agree more. I love it when it's gloomy. I've always pictured living in a place where it's gloomy all the time, and the skies are always gray and it's a little windy. And it rains occasionally. One can dream.

Red face

Lotr is nothing, mortal minion. JRR didn't even want to write it but his publisher forced him because the public wanted another hobbit story.

You should check out The Silmarillion. That was Tolkien's true passion. A fictional mythology about Elven lords doomed to strive against an unconquerable foe Morgoth the original Dark Lord of this World.

The public wanted another story. Huh.

Last book I read was Misery, by Stephen King. I loved it. Have you read it?

Yes I actually have. In jail heh. It's pretty good, especially as a metaphor for King's own relationship with his readers.

I prefer his short stories. But The Gunslinger is sacrosanctative!

Nice! I'm guessing you've read Different Seasons too, then. What were you in jail for?

Also, the Talisman is excellent

Current Pumpkins song I'm obsessed with/listen to repeatedly: In My Body. Such a great song. Everything from the Machina era is criminally underrated.

I just finished the Dark Tower series. Managed to get through the whole thing with nothing spoiled for myself, and the ending kicked my ass. I usually go in expecting SK to shit the bed on his endings, but that one delivered for me.

In My Body's the fuckin' tits. Loved the version from Asheville:

I have only read a few King novels. I should read more. I read the Wastelands and Wizard/Glass but wasn't too impressed. I think he overreaches with his more ambitious stuff. But his imagination is fantastic and his imagery can be BOMB. It is obvious that he did a shit-ton of drugs.

I went to jail many times Sorry but these are dark days so I don't feel like reliving it. Google my name for the journalistic take: Jonathan Stefanovic.

That's tough. I hope you're doing well now.

His imagery is amazing. I was blown away by it when I first read King. It was Firestarter. Again, great book. Haven't seen the movie adaptation yet though.

It IS underrated. Kinda cathartic. Releasing Machina II for free was such a cool thing for such a huge rock band to do.

THE DISASTER ARTIST IS OUT! FUCK. YES. I've been waiting for this, especially as a huge fan of The Room and the book it's based on.

I never saw Gossamer live, unfortunately. But this concert was amazing, best SP concert I've been too, including pre-2000. It was so long, the band sounded great, the crowd was small and awesome. I drove 1000 miles to get there
