1) Released so far: Wilco "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot"
2) "Yoshimi..." is sounding rather good, but it hasn't been formally released yet. 3) I hope DJ Shadow's new one isn't really just barely average. |

1. Grand Salvo - River Road most of you would never have heard of this guy, since he is a melb. songwriter, but this second record of his is a beautiful journey indeed. 2. Boards Of Canada - Geogaddi same as mayfuck said, BOC haven't really changed their formula much, but this is a wonderful listen every time 3. Songshia - Didn't It Rain bleak, despairing lyrics wrapped up in soft strumming and some excellent female backing vocals 4. Jim O'Rourke - I'm Happy And I'm Singing.. as mayfuck said, a fantastic electronic record. 5. Trail Of Dead - Source Tags And Codes yeh...its good ------------------ http://www.lovepolice.com.au/ARCHIVE/loversf.gif And I remember every goddamn minute with you Like a minute in a movie that hurts |

I even like Bright Eyes, but that album is unlistenable SHIT. His vocals are absolutely grating (I know I know, but even at their best, Oberst's vocals on this album are terrible, and don't come close to the worst example of Corgan's nasal whine). He's not a strong singer, but his wavering voice fits with the acoustic dirges that make up the Bright Eyes catalog. His screams and howls on the Desaparecidos album are absolutely cringe inducing. |

Well of course they are. What I was pointing out was the reason WHY. If the album had never gone through the now almost legendary-like label controversy, and not been labeled a 'career ending album', the release would have been marked with critical accliam but you wouldn't see it getting nearly the attention it has, RS layouts, etc. Just look at all those rave reviews. The first paragraph almost always starts out describing the label problems, etc, not the music itself. It's not that the music isn't deserving--it's actually the exact opposite. It's just a shame the band and their best album had to get the attention it/they deserved simply by barely having the album released at all. |
