or look through way cooler photography books (nothing too risque) and point out familiar objects. wildlife photography is cool.

get well soon, run2me!!! the flu is one of my biggest fears, i hope you recover well without too many problems.
and yes, i will definitely be having conversations about colors, shapes, and animals and probably forget how to talk to anyone over age 3 until she goes to school. luckily the few friends i have here in Lametown all have young kids, because it's essentially impossible to match schedules with anyone who doesn't. and my kid is EXTREMELY particular about books, but we're working on it. she only just really started paying attention to the pictures in them, instead of seeing them as toys where you turn the pages as fast as possible. if she doesn't immediately like it, she runs off. but i think that's age appropriate, just a little patience-trying. since i happen to like planets, a lot of our books have space stuff in them. she points at all the stars and says "ssssttttt" so she definitely recognizes them but can't quite spit the word out. she also points out stars on my clothing/jewelry and the glow stars i have above her crib. i really hope that's her first word!!

We went to Kinokuniya at Orchard to get books on Christmas Eve...we always give books at Christmas - my dads side of the family pretty much just have a book swap every Christmas. Orchard was fucking nuts. Have never seen so many people on one road before.
No big presents because we leave Singapore today, and the kids will get new bikes once we reach NZ. Best present for me was how little they complained about everything, and how happy they are with nothing - just some books and candy each. We didn’t even wrap them this year - just presented them to each other and explained why we had bought them. I hadn’t intended it to be that way...I haven’t put any intention into Christmas at all this year, because we’re moving from one country to another today, the day after. We actually went and had haircuts, because so many people don’t celebrate Christmas here, so all the shops are open for their usual hours. So strange. I wish we could do it this way every year. The boys set up their own stockings in the hope that Santa might still fill them - I had forgotten all about them. They hung a clothesdrier thing off a music stand - the younger on pegged up his santa hat, and the older one pegged up an actual sock. It was sort of Dickensian. Luckily my husband had bought a bunch of candy for them so there was something waiting for them in the morning. Really proud of my kids this year...it’s a shit and hard Christmas and they are so cheerful and resourceful nonetheless. |

I know!
It wouldn't work any other way, imagine I wouldn't suck this much, then you'd have to try long and hard to find anyone to pull rank on! Speaking of, please pay attention to your job and do something for your money http://forums.netphoria.org/showthread.php?t=187042 |
