hahaha yeah exactly, that's what I mean. I'm definitely not gonna be buying any merch if that name is displayed anywhere on the gear.

"Oh hey bro, you went to the Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour?!" lol like come on...

yeah there was a lot of heckling on that tour. I wonder if there will be a lot of D'arcy hecklers at the upcoming shows

I'm expecting hard confrontations between people yelling for D'arcy and true fans with Sad Machines t-shirts on this Shitty and Not So Bright Tour.

Shit, there was a movie about a bunch of aging musicians going back on the road which had pretty much the same design on the artwork (minus rainbows), but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

Think the Radiohead tour will cut into Billy’s sales?

I would love to see the contract between Live Nation and Smashing Pumpkins INC. Since Live Nation are taking care of promotion, i bet they are calling the shots. Billy and the boys needed money and they were willing to flush whatever creative integrity they have down the toilet and get out there, tow the line and play the hits. I bet there is something in that contract stipulating what songs they have to play, as well as insurance if Billy goes and opens his big fat mouth and insults someone. You can rest assured he will be on his best behaviour on this tour, otherwise he will be in breach of contract.

And by God, Live Nation are doing a good job of promotion.

I bet it was their idea to bring back those Siamese Dream girls. Saw that picture of them re-uniting was ran by The Independent, Daily Mail and top of NME. Paid advertising right there.

All tapping into that sweet, sweet nostalgia.

The nostalgia thing would work if it weren't for Jeff and current Billy vocals

Can normal people actually distinguish that stuff or do they just not give a shit?

Billy on nostalgia tours (2012):

"It's just when that becomes the story [only playing old songs]...if that is the story then I'm dead as an artist and there is no future for my band."

2018:

Quote:
The Smashing Pumpkins "Shiny And Oh So Bright” Tour- Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jeff Schroeder, and Jimmy Chamberlin celebrating songs from their first 5 albums: Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore, and Machina. Tickets available Friday Feb 23rd beginning at 10AM local.

Well he's been dead as an artist, quite figuratively for the past 15 years by now.

a lot of people probably don't even know or care who is in the band besides billy.. and concerning his voice, well, it's not that bad. there's been a lot of worse cases than billy in terms of vocals.

probably a bit on early ticket purchases? No idea how big the target audience overlap is currently.

if your budget for concerts is limited and you have to decide between seeing Radiohead in MsG or at the United Center in July and seeing SP - I am not sure how Billy is going to piss on Radiohead here.

oh they have the same venue for Montreal too.
haha, and their tickets go on sale the exact same day as SP.
who will sell out faster? rocket science.

but I assume there's gonna be lots of people who are gonna be thinking
"100$ ticket show for a 90's band... I'm only going to pick one.."

I guarantee that we're going to hear at least one soundclip of billy blaming Radiohead for the failure of this upcoming tour.

radiohead are playing two shows in Montreal full capacity. Billy will be playing one at less than half I bet... get a clue old bald "the kids are too loud" corgan.

He's too worried about what others will think of him or his band. It would be nice if he went back to not giving a f*** what anyone thought..

Though aren't they going to be releasing 8 new songs and (presumably) play those as well? If not, then yeah. But if so, then I don't know about all that.

You know, I don't know how many of you are around the Chicago area but last Thursday or Friday when I was listening to the Loop Mancow was playing random snippets of pumpkins music and throwing in sounds bites of the last show at Metro. He later mentioned having the FIRST smashing pumpkins interview since the tour announcement and to look for the podcast after the radio show that day. I haven't seen anything yet. Do you guys think maybe the band re-tracted the interview?
