I don't know why I want to hear this so bad because the first impressions are overwhelmingly negative.
But please, someone PM me a link. |

I received two different download links for this song. The one that is of a higher bitrate (around 10mb in size) sounded remarkably better than the lower resolution version. Before making up your mind about the song I suggest tracking that version down.

The youtube to mp3 trick is not working for me. Keeps saying "this video cannot be converted". Maybe because I'm on mobile? My work computer blocks Youtube.

LOL first thought.. THIS IS A SINGLE??????
This sounds like an outtake. edit: though not the worst thing from the last 10 years.. the chorus is pretty good.. snare sounds weird but again the same problem as Monuments and Zeitgeist.. mostly sounding very generic "modern rock" |

a) by Corgan and Iha b) for this purpose Solara is an outtake that is several years old. shite? sure. it's simply super lazy to not put the effort in, on the other hand, what for. they are banking on the nostalgia train to sell tickets for this tour anyway |

Thanks to those who PM'd me. Finally heard it. It's not as bad as I thought, but it still is very lacking. It's repetitive and there's no real hook. And when Billy says "trying" he does that weird thing with his voice where he cuts out the first syllable and it's really off-putting.
Jimmy's drums are top notch and Billy's guitar tracks are an improvement over what he's done since the MCIS-era. Second listen: Oh god that "trying" thing is so awful.... |

a) I may be wrong, but I thought this was pushed as a reunion effort? I, like everyone else, can't even tell if James Iha is on this track. Regardless, remove Iha from the argument and the point still stands. b) Are you saying that this single is not to promote the (so-called) reunion of one of the most original bands of the 90s? |

"are you daft" - yes, we see eye to eye then
what I am saying regarding that reddit comment is, how is it "hitting the nail on the head" - that person is describing it as if Iha and Corgan had wititen this song - which is not true - for this reunion - which is also not true. "remove half the argument and it's still spot on" - yea okay. |

Let's talk about the mastering...it's so brickwalled that you just want to turn the volume down. Why?...here's the answer: |

Honestly, I shockingly don't hate it. I think it's up there with the better of anything Billy has done post original line up. Then again, that's not saying much. But from hearing what everyone was saying, I expected worse. I'll take this over Oceania or Monuments. I don't mind the production that much. It's not overly terrible, but sounds pretty decent on my ATH-M50X headphones. Would like to hear a true lossless version. Of course, it doesn't top anything from the original line up, but I'll take it over anything from Tergarden, Oceania, Ogilalabad, or Monuments and its better some of the tracks off Zeitgeist.

Tried to download the track by the now shown YouTube link. But instead a message appears that the track isn't available anymore... |

Wow.
It sounds like MTAE with Zeitgeist production. There's the semblance of some good hooks in there, but they're lost in a sea of everything bad about post-Zwan Corgan. And what is with the tinny drums in the chorus? Jimmy is basically playing drums for a much better song. Do you think Billy f'ed his ears up at some point? It's like he's hearing something differently to everybody else. He's totally forgotten how to sing and write Pumpkins songs. |

People are giving Jimmy's drumming way too much credit here. It's super distracting and wanky. I am a huge JC fan don't get me wrong, but the he-man routine does not do this song any favors as it is a terrible song.
