I think he sound really good on it that's why I wondering what era it was. M2 vocals were fantastic in general

M2 Vocals are nice, but on Untitled it starts to sound all grating and more like the Zeitgeist vocals.

It might just be that he isn't using any vocal processor effects or something.

I've always loved that wall of static effect on the forever waiting part too! I wish he would of used it more often. I imagine white spider and real love will sound similar once they're cleaned up for the reissue

Let's blindly speculate.

If only we had the tools or the the technology to look this information up on short notice...

The thing about real love though is that I get what he was trying to do. It's just that he went way way way overboard. I think he was spot on with everlasting gaze and the "fuzz" in the chorus is both brilliant and beautiful and a fantastic way of opening up the chorus from the growling guitars of the verses. (That's something I love about the corgan; how he lets chorus' fly after a restrained verse- ie: ava adore, pug, teitbite, tonight tonight, disarm, etc.) I think if he had pulled the fuzz back to everlasting gaze level, the song would be pretty perfect.

I was pretty disappointed in the studio Superchrist too. The first time I'd ever heard the song was performed in person and at the time it just knocked my socks off... Might just be one of those songs that only sounds cool in person though, because even some of the pro-shot live recordings were kinda weak.
Superchrist should never have been released. Its less of a song than fucking Jackboot and only functions as a live intro and that's about it

does Zwan count itt? the entire album, that's the "worst" thing that was done to songs in my book. and cougaring great songs throughout his career, no matter under what banner. Like leaving Mini off TFE.

I wonder how many good songs were left off MTAE - Burnt Orange-Black was cougared, yet Run2Me and Anti-Hero made the list.

I love the way JC emphasizes this as well. Like on cherub rock he plays on the hihat for the first part, then as the guitars smooth out and warm up he switches to the ride

The one thing I don't like about "Machina 2" that some mentioned is not what Billy did or didn't do in the studio, it's the fact that it was leaked from pretty shitty vinyl rip sources...

I'm hoping he'll do something about it on the re-issue. Even Like an alternate take or something.

Never been a big fan of "Real Love" myself, but in that interview Jimmy did in Ireland a few months back he mentioned it being his favorite Smashing Pumpkins song...

I have a copy of the "Untitled" single somewhere in my house. It has a slightly less impressive alternate version of "Age of Innocence" and the version of "Try" that's on Machina II.

I still think Real Love sounds perfect as is

A version without the fuzz would still be nice but I like the direction they took with M2's production

Does someone have like their definitive version of what a Machina double album should have been that I can listen to?

I'm sure this has been done a thousand times

If I made one it would just be my favorite tracks because I never cared about the concept

pr sure slunken posted one earlier in this thread, seemed like he'd been working on it for a while as well

then there's that glass & the ghost children thing that made use of the unmastered tracks as well

honestly i think even with the officially released one coming next year i'm still going to prefer my own version of whatever this whole gobble-di gook, rappidi-dash thing is

Mini is indeed a great song, it's somehow the missing link between TFE and MTAE for me.

since I dropped out of paying attention long before and after TFE I'm not aware of any um... circulated alternate or acoustic (leaked in other words) versions, only the live recs.
Mini anyone?
