Ahhhh.. The mental gymnastics that SP fanboys continuously go through to rationalize the current output never ceases to amaze me.

Corgan has been spouting excuses for every release since Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness.

I never said it was going to be good, just better than vol. 1; which shouldnt be hard to do honestly.

I agree with you pal.

This is the first time since MCIS where the bandís had the same lineup for 2 albums in a row. Since MCIS every album has been some sort of comeback or transition, thereís been some valid excuse.

This is it now. No excuses. If vol 2 isnít good then SP are never going to be good.

IIRC he's already said vol. 2 will have some Day for Night outtakes so I wouldn't get your hopes up

I’m a Day for Night Truther.

It was shaping up to be the best SP album ever. The record company put the kybosh on it because Billy was going mental in an LSD haze, recording endless overdubs, coming up with impossibly complex arrangements and singing weird songs about vegetables. He’ll spend the rest of his career putting out terrible albums with a few badly realised versions of D4N songs on, growing fat and losing his mind to drugs. His psychiatrist will gain full control of his life and there’ll be a few Billy Corgan solo albums where song writing credits will be shared with the psychiatrist. SP will continue, with Jeff in charge. Billy will be wheeled into the studio and the occasional tour where he’ll sing tunelessely. Jeffing Pumpkins will have a massive hit with Kokomo.

i feel like if anything we might have had a Pink Floyd or Joy Division type deal happen with the Pumpkins, either before SD was finished or right after. his accounts of that time make it sound like he was really close but honestly, by this point i'm not sure Billy's "Brian Wilson crazy" output would have been too much different than the actual Corgan music we have gotten

there's never gonna be anyone else fronting the pumpkins but Corgan .

I'm sure he's trying his best with every album.

if you think Jack Bates's worth is based solely on his presence in the Smashing Pumpkins you are out of line buster brown

Jack Bates is not just a member of some band. He's a hero, a legend... a lifestyle
