You don't know that it was a soundcheck, though. It just as easily could be a standard, unreleased recording.

And who says Rock On was from a soundcheck? I thought it was determined a while back that, while it sounds somewhat raw, it was a standard recording?

i thought it was determined that since melissa is credited on bass & that she never went in studio with the band that....

well that's all the facts we have. come to your own conclusion.

I guess what I meant by "standard" release is that they didn't just take a recorded soundcheck, buy intentionally tried to get a clean take of the song for a release's sake. That might have been done in a venue, it might have been done in a small studio, who knows. The point is, it's way too error-free for a simple soundcheck, especially James's effects.

yes, i've always understood it to be that, during a soundcheck, they intentionally tried to get a clean take of the song for a release's sake.
