I haven't even listened to anything off of August and everything after aside from the singles. I was never into the band at all, which is why I was surprised at how much I enjoyed RTS. I'm downloading AAEA now though. Can't wait to listen to it.

A big hobby of mine has been visiting different thrift stores and sifting thru their CD selections. All of the CD's are usually just 1-2$, just dirt cheap. So I'll often come across releases that I never bothered with at the time, or bands that I've just plain forgot about and revisit the music. It's quite enjoyable, and I've actually come across some rare releases.

No worries man. Most people feel as if they waste their life away. It sucks, but that just seems to be the way it goes. A lot of people who actually started families and all of that shit seem pretty miserable too.

That's weak man. Mr Jones plays at the grocery store I work at and it's the album cut.

You're seriously going to compare Countring Crows to Hootie and the blowfish? Hootie and the blowfish are more embarrassing than Creed if you ask me. Just the worst Eddie Veddar impersonation that I've ever heard.

Yeah man, exactly. I always go thru the vinyl too, but it's usually been picked thru with a fine-tooth comb. Found Iron Maidens powerslave in good condition for a couple bucks at one place awhile back though. That was sweet.

PS, just listening to AAEA now, You're indeed right, Omahas a nice listen.

Trotsky's right, Omahas the shit. I still have that in rotation on my Ipod. Haven't listened to RTS in awhile though; I'll have to get around to that.

"Only Wanna B With You" was my 1st favorite song. Before that I wasn't really into music at all, apart from the Jurassic Park soundtrack

I wore out 2 copies of "Cracked Rearview," bought "Fairweather Johnson" the day it came out, and Hootie was my 1st concert

As a tiny teen I worked with a couple dudes in their late 20s at this greenhouse on my street. My 1st job. Dudes were talking about what concerts they were going to that summer, and specifically with regard to the relative chances of seeing babes who might b flashing thier boobs.

I mentioned I was going to see Hootie. Johnny (one of the older dudes, blond mulleted, a huge Ozzy/Dio/Danzig fan) goes

"HOOTIE!?!? ... the only thing you'll see at that show is a BUNCHA FAGGOTS!!!"

Hahah god bless him. It's funny to think back to 1994/95 and remember what a HUGE fucking deal Hootie and the Blowfish actually were.

I don't know if I mentioned this in the thread already or not, but on a Weezer message board years ago someone posted an article from some newspaper or music rag from the mid 90's and the writer was going on about how a lot of these 90's bands are gonna be flash in the pans and how they won't stand the test of time. He noted that groups like "Green Day, Weezer, Hole" and a few others that I can't remember will fizzle out before we know it and that the band he predicts will have a long career and stand the test of time would be Hootie and the Blowfish. LOL. As a kid my family was always talking about how Green Day were just a fad and shit too. Shows that the young people always know best.

But man, Hootie was all the rage. Anyone remember when Garth Brooks wouldn't accept the Grammy award for album of the year cause he believed Hooties brilliant album deserved it more?

History settles everything though and artistic justice is always served.

Definitely a good listen. If we're talking about post-smash success CC- I gotta post this song.

Just a beautiful song

The band should have had a better career, but they took the PJ angle of boycotting award shows and shit like that and that probably pissed off a lot of the powerful major label goons.
