Billy Corgan--Anti-Cubs celebrity

There’s a reason you don’t see Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan hanging out with other celebrity Chicago Cubs fans like Eddie Vedder, Bill Murray, Vince Vaughn, Tom Morello, and John Cusack: he is anti-Cubs celebrity. Without naming any specific people, Corgan discussed his stance in a new Chicago Tribune interview.

“I don’t talk to other Cubs celebrities,” Corgan, 49, said. “In fact, I’m anti-Cubs celebrity. Although I know a few Cubs celebrities, other Cubs celebrities tend to show up when the playoffs are around. I don’t necessarily see them in June. I might be a little biased being a Chicagoan year-round.”

“It’s a bit surreal,” he said about the Cubs making the World Series. “Having come to this ballpark for over 40 years you reach a point where you start to think, ‘is this ever going to happen?’” Corgan said.

“I just love the way the team plays. I think that’s part of what the vibe is, not just the chance we have to win a World Series but we’re looking at a team that is going to be great for years to come.”

Corgan’s cat Mr. Thom recently tweeted about the Cubs, “CUBS meow CUBS meow.”

It is kind of bullshit Ed ran around in white sox hat back in the 90s. claimed the Red Sox, then switched to the Twins and then back to Red Sox as his "american league team."

I'm a pretty big pearl jam fan and always found it annoying. even more annoying now. the hardcore pearl jam fans have gotten a bit out of control with their love of that band and there are a ton of PJ fans that are randomly cubs fans because of the Cheddy.

I never understood being bothered with what fans of bands do and what motivates them. Seems a waste of time to me.
