Better than the Suburbs, and I've only heard snippets of a few songs.

edit: It's Never Over is an amazing song

I think it's their weakest album but it's not a bad album.

Actually just listening through it for the first time. It's Never Over is on right now and this easily one of the better songs on the album.

I've heard the album in it's entirety maybe three or four times now?

Can't decide if it's their best work or not. It's very long (but not an excruciating long, like Machina for instance) so it's difficult to get through the whole thing listening attentively. But unlike that last album, there doesn't seem to be a track that could be cut, it's all solid, and even the weaker songs seem to have a valid place, much like Neon Bible.

It's definitely better than The Suburbs. I don't think it tops Funeral or Neon Bible, but it's in the same league whereas Suburbs falls on its face a little bit at times. I agree with the above... it's too long, but there aren't really any filler songs like Suburbs. Kind of obnoxious that the album is ONE minute too long to fit onto 1 CD. It successfully moves them in an exciting new direction though, and it has the teeth that their first two have, ditching the kitschy, quaint cuteness of Suburbs. It's dark, sprawling, atmospheric, and theatrical. Joan of Arc is currently my favorite song.

in montreal it's cool to hate arcade fire, but I've liked the first three albums. I think they're really good even if Win a douche. (he's a douche at the corgan scale, yet he's personally not that talented and is just good at manipulating people into giving the Arcade Fire brand their ideas. AF 100% belongs to him and his wife, everyone else is just a gun for hire - even his brother!)

Reflector is no good. it's too drawn on. not that there's songs to cut, but they could ALL be shorter in length.
I'm glad they've toned down regina's parts (can everyone just admit she's awful???).
I don't really see what the fuss is about regarding the new Caribbean rhythms.. meh.

I like a lot of the songs Regine sings as well. I also am a big fan of the Carribean rhythms and definitely noticed how they hearken back to Funeral

It's Never Over is the best song. I think it might be playing homage to the Matrix. I feel like someone could make up a mashup from the Matrix that matches up perfectly to the song.

The second half overall is much better than the first half.

It's Never Over is awesome. The guitar lick is fucking boss. As are Joan of Arc and Afterlife. Some of their best songs. I also agree that the second half of the album is much stronger than the first half. I like Reflektor but I'm not really into Flashbulb Eyes, I think it slows down the momentum of the album.

I have no idea what you are talking about with the matrix

I concur it's up there with Funeral and Neon Bible. The Suburbs has some great songs, but I don't like it as much as an album.

Also, Win can be an even bigger douche than B0lly at times. When I saw them in Manchester in 2010, the band asked their tour manager to tell the fans who had been attending several shows to move away from the front row because they were tired of seeing their faces. I have no idea how no music blogs picked this up for publication at the time:

http://forums.arcadefire.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4065

But what the hell, it's a great album, so I'm seeing them live in three days.

is the other one sprawl 2 mountains beyond mountains

i think wake up and rebellion (lies) are also good but yes the triple whammy starting with haiti is hard to beat

For the entire first half of the song they are singing about Morpheus from the perspective of the agents/machines. Telling him don't turn around because they are coming for him and will find him. Then they are taunting him by saying wait until it's over with them catching him and destroying Zion. Then saying what would he do if they called for him instead of his ship calling for him to take him out of the Matrix. There's more too if you listen to it, too many ties to ignore it.

Not sure if serious or not. :|

The dude is called Orpheus, not Morpheus, and the song fits the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.

In terms of overall sound, Reflektor kind of sounds like they went back and started building where Funeral and Neon Bible left off, and are ignoring the direction Suburbs went in.

guys this album is a fucking beast. it's really, really, really good. Every time I listen I love it more. The second side is just killer. The progression of Eurydice -> Orpheus -> Porno -> Afterlife is holy shit.
