Boner's Bets: My Complete NBA and NHL Playoff Picks With Analysis
Go back and pull up the NBA Preseason Picks thread. I think I got 7 of the 8 playoff teams in the West and 7 of 8 in the East. We've already seen the NHL preseason picks. And of course, I nailed the 2005 MLB picks.
I hate to play up my image of arrogance, but frankly my picks deserve their own thread. Without further ado: NBA WESTERN CONFERENCE Kings over Spurs 4-3 Suns over Lakers 4-2 Clippers over Nuggets 4-3 Mavs over Grizz 4-2 Mavs over Kings 4-3 Suns over Clippers 4-3 Mavs over Suns 4-3 EASTERN CONFERENCE Detroit over my Bucks 4-1 Bulls over Heat 4-3 Nets over Pacers 4-2 Cavs over Wiz 4-3 Detroit over Cavs 4-2 Nets over Bulls 4-2 Detroit over Nets 4-3 NBA FINALS: Detroit Basketball over the Mavs 4-3 -------------------- NHL WESTERN CONFERENCE Wings over Oilers 4-2 Stars over Avs 4-2 Ducks over Flames 4-3 Sharks over Preds 4-1 Sharks over Wings 4-3 Stars over Ducks 4-3 Stars over Sharks 4-3 EASTERN CONFERENCE Sens over Bolts 4-3 Habs over Canes 4-3 Devils over Rangers 4-2 Sabres over Flyers 4-3 Sens over Habs 4-2 Devils over Sabres 4-3 Devils over Sens 4-3 NHL FINALS: Devils over Stars 4-2 |

how could you pick the kings over the spurs and not the lakers over the suns or the wiz over the cavs?

upon further consideration i will upgrade my opinion that they have the slightest chance of taking it to 7 games. No chance at winning though.

the kings arent your usual 8th seed, but i think the spurs will take it in 6.
and that game 6 will be a classic playoff game, maybe horry throws in some heroics ala detroit game 5 last year. |

Why didn't I pick the Lakers? Are you serious? The Suns took 3 of 4 from the Lakers all by double digits. The Lakers' lone win against the Suns was when the Suns were without Raja and Steve Nash. While people will point to the Suns decline over the last 3 weeks remember 2 things: 1) Unlike the Mavs and Spurs, the Suns' were a lock for the 2-seed once they clinched the Pacific; and 2) in one of their few meaningful games down the stretch they beat the Mavs. This was on national TV and they stepped up.
The Kings on the other hand lost to the Spurs by 1, 3, and 3 pre-Artest and throttled the Spurs by 10 (were up 20 most of the game) in San Antonio down the stretch while the Kings were fighting for the 8-seed and the Spurs were fighting for home court. My one problem in picking the Kings is that I think Parker will expose Bibby. |

And I could see the Wiz beating the Cavs. I hate to use this cliche, but I really think the Wiz are fairly gutless. I'm a basketball betting degenerate. I've watched a lot of Wiz games this year and when they are one they are as good as any Eastern team other than Detroit. But when Jamison and/or Haywood decide not show up, they play like shit. You can count on Gilbert night in and night out. But I'm not putting any stock in a team that starts Brendan Haywood.

every single time you get to looking like you know what the fuck you're talking about you do some shit like this. It's barely halftime game 1 and you can tell the kings dont have a prayer 73-39 AT THE FUCKING HALF |

I'm not sure the concept of the 7-game series has made its way out to Tarleton. Ask the 1960 New York Yankees what rings they got for outscoring the Pirates by 24 runs in their 3 Series wins but losing 4 1-run games to Pittsburgh.

The only reason you chose the kings is because the assholes on ESPN were hyping them up. Your picks almost always mirror the 3pm-530pm banter on espn. You can tell Artest is going to get zero help in this series defensively If sacramento wins one game i'll be absolutely shocked |

Hey dumbass. I'm not still in college. Therefore, I'm not able to watch the 3:00 to 5:30 shows on ESPN. And believe it or not, I don't even watch Sports Center. The time I have available for TV watching is devoted entirely to live sporting events and Hannity and Colmes.

I already stated why I picked the Kings. It's probably gonna turn out to be a fucked up pick. But it wont' change the Final 4 of Dallas, Suns, 'Stons, Nets, which is what I picked.

Nobody picked the Kings among the experts on ESPN or CBS.

Bigger concern right now is whether the Bulls +9 will hit.

I'm not sure if you are aware of this but when your job involves being in front of a computer, it is possible to use the Internet and work.
Also, dumbass you post a lot more than I do. |
