Arrow has rolling stone ever given a hip hop album five stars?

i was just curious. if so, which albums?
from what i've noticed, they tend to give every good hip hop album four stars. it doesn't matter how good it is.

the first question you should ask is have they ever given anything that really deserved five stars five stars, besides things that came out before 1990?

just look at hip hop musicians attitude. look at their promo videos. and observe how despite their i'm-oh-so-great attitude their music is sub-par compared with any other genre. I'll admit they sometimes make clever use of language, but that's about it.

Basing your opinion of all rap on Ja Rule and Nelly is like basing your opinion of all punk on Blink 182 and Good Charlotte

we're not talking about vibe. vibe isn't rolling stone. refer back to the subject.

Red face

i've never understood the whole opinion of "if you don't like a certain kind of music, you are ignorant and closed minded." 'cause i really dislike all rap and hip-hop i've ever heard. i can't say "i hate all rap!", 'cause i certainly haven't heard it all, but everything i've heard has never appealed to me.

maybe you just have an opinion or a certain taste? god forbid!!

Throwing around names is easy, isn't it?

P.S. Los Angeles is revolting, kid. I'd much rather live in Burbank.

I honestly can't recall anything. RS throws out 5 stars to any over-the-hill fart that continues to churn out records for reasons only ageing flower children will understand (see Bob Dylan and Springsteen).

RS is also the rag that gave two stars each to the RHCP's "BloodSugarSex..." and JA's "Ritual" and, most humorously, gave "nevermind" 3 stars.

****** is my friend. i don't take kindly to those insults even from this vantage point because i know they're not true and it's really needless to insult anyone based on what they do, believe in, etc. that much does bother me. i'm not trying to be rude. but i think it's in the best interest of everyone that you stop it.

That's just about right, actually. You were on a roll with the RS screwups for a while there, though.

really? I saw a CD package of it that prominently displayed the fact that RS gave it 5 stars. That site has lots of errors, IMO.

according to rollingstone.com, they gave Run-DMC's Raising Hell album 5 stars, but the review is dated September 5, 2002.
