i had the most fucked day yesterday.

rant time:

i woke up at 4.30 and couldnt go back to sleep for whatever reason. at 9.30 band rehearsal started. we rehearsed till 12, took an hour for lunch, then packed everything up, moved it to my friends house for our gig at his party that night. i set up all my drums and stuff, we rehearsed a bit more, soundchecked, and then proceeded to spend a good 4 hours sitting guarding my drums and refusing every drink/joynt i was offered cause i had to be straight to play. at 8.00 the other band went on, played 4 songs and finished in less than 20 minutes. we got onstage, tuned up, and played our first song.

at this point its worth pointing out that since we last played (just over a year ago), the band broke up, didnt talk to each other for 6 months, and then got over it and reunited and learnt all our songs again and started writing new ones. this was our first gig since we'd reunited (obviously) and we'd invited a lot of people to come see us.

anywho. first song goes well. people are digging it, we sound pretty decent if i dont say so myself. we start our second song and all of a sudden its like we're on fire. we're tighter than we usually are at rehearsals, we're sounding better than we have ever sounded before. period. the crowd (mostly friends) are really getting into it.

then the shit and the fan make contact.

we get to the bridge of this song and suddenly our guitarist just stops. i journey on for a few bars and then stop too. he walks over and tells me that the cops are asking us to stop playing. it's eight freaking thirty. the neighbours lodged a complaint. this wouldnt usually be a problem but theres a lot of pot going around at the party and its a rental house too, so my mate decides we have to stop playing entirely.

now this, on its own, isnt that big a deal. but for some reason i just fucking blew up. i was so ridiculously pissed off, possibly cause i just spent a day preparing for a song and a half.

sorry, i'll shut up now. i just need to vent.

Tough break, shit happens. Today I lost my keys at a water park, had to drive all the way home, have a friend bring me back, and then go home again. 4 hours of driving, 4 hours of burning gas, and I have to give my buddy gas money for taking me back.

I always thought it had to be after 11 o'clock for the cops to enforce a disturbing the peace complaint. Anyway, they cannot just walk into the house anyway unless they see or smell pot. You should have told them it was early and that you would turn down.

But it still sucks. Sorry man.

I once got to my friend's girlfriend's house to play a show and when we got there the singer realized he forgot the AC adapter for the freaking PA. I was so damn pissed. We practiced, packed our equip., drove to her house, set everything up, bullshitted, then once we got our instruments on the singer was like "Uhhh...." and we didn't even play one song. If the cops came and shut me down, I'd go out like a huge asshole and refuse, then get handcuffed and feal like a rebel. Grrr.

Yeah. Well, I'd like to say I would refuse and stick it to the man, but if the cops actually told me to turn down I would probably just pussy out and say, "yes officer".

We've never played anywhere we've been allowed to turn up that loud anyway.

They say it sucked, but it gives them street cred.
