Raindrops and Sunshowers from VH1 Storytellers
I love that version of the song. Wish something like that had been attempted in the studio. Fantastic drumming by Jimmy. Beautiful piano. It seems like the bass playing is the only element of the song that sounds the same as on the album.

I think a lot of people disagree but I kinda like the Mike Garson piano noodling in these versions. Snail and especially Dusty and Pistol Pete are fantastic. I hated Dusty until I heard the Storytellers rendition.

Pro-Garson here. Love his work. Love how he teases other well-known songs (jazz standards) during his parts.

I think it was the VH1 Storytellers in which I first realized that this was no longer the band I had fallen in love with seven years earlier.

I had graduated high school and started attending art school earlier that month so SP was off my radar by then. I can only view/listen to the show in hindsight.
Was the day before my birthday though |

Garson's all piano version of Le Deux Machina from the Friends and Enemies collection is great too.

Do not post topics like this without posting a link to the song. It's just rude.

I've whittled down my ipod SP live list down to about 10 shows and this one is definitely one of them. If you've ignored it for this long that's your problem. It's a staple.

I downloaded a complete version of this show a while back - and the quality's very mediocre.
Wouldn't mind giving this another run-through - are there more than one complete versions of it floating around? |

Garson is fucking awesome. Have you people listened to "Widower" from the new Dillinger Escape Plan?

I like the part of this show where Billy says that Yelena said he's a whiny little bitch.

I was just going to link to the show on thepumpkins.net but strange things are afoot over there. When did that happen?
