that's to say the video is very bad and the song is much better to listen to without watching it, though i do love the dance move gifs

It’s growing on me. It’s an ear worm and has SP feel. CoL has a pretty distinctive M2 vibe.

Better than anything on Vol 1 besides Marchin imo

This would be perfectly fine under the WPC solo project remit albeit it sucks and I really enjoy TFE, but to tarnish the Pumpkins reputation like this is horrific. I just listened to Olympiahalle 2000 show and that is just a thing of musical perfection.

Picture of Netphoria responding to the fact that "CYR" has actually (relatively speaking to previous albums and singles) gotten some traction:

absolutely the other way around, song is an uninteresting chart-grab with none of the charm that actual pop music can sometimes posess. video at least gives it a sheen of believable "artsiness" to wash it down

The climb to 1m was swift and unexpected but it died down as soon as it reached that landmark and will take a while to catch up with Solara at this new rate.

I wonder if Sad Machines employed a Russian view farm to drive up those numbers. Right after hitting a million views, new views slowed very quickly. I know this is relatively common for new videos, but a bit curious. It has gained less than 80,000 views since the 1M mark was hit over a day ago. The evening it that mark it was adding like 10-20k views an hour. Maybe Billiam promised SM better music if they gave him a 1M.

They paid for it to be run as an ad on youtube that's where all the views came from.

They ran it as an ad til it hit 1 million. That was how I saw it, showed up as an ad in front of a totally unrelated video.

Youtube treats a view as a count when you play a video for 30 seconds or more.

A song doesn’t get added to radio these days unless you are paying clear channel. I guess Bill decided to invest some money in the bands promo instead of wrasslin.

After one week, my reaction to the songs hasn't changed because I haven't gone back to listen again. Never said it was terrible, only that it was futureembrace v2 and musically not too bad.

The lyrics though - god awful. Bad even for a pretentious high school poem. Imagine screaming this back at BC during a future tour:

Tangеnts vex the whorl
The void arrivеs then leaves
Returning, returning a kiss
For lovers built the dream

Say, I done told you
Say how I tried too
Where you've wrought
From creation's crown
Say, dire warning
Stare down your masters
With the promise of
One and what you are
We're on the verge

Did the times, wind
Did the crowd, kind
Aping youth, wise
Ever lost, ides
'Midst the chaff, as meek
And those weak, as sand
Turning glass upside down
For the hours should they pass

Say, I done told you
Say how I tried too
Where you've wrought
From creation's crown
We're on the verge
Say, dire warning
Stare down your masters
With the promise of
One and what you are

They are void and disconnected from any meaning. It's near impossible to connect to them on an emotional level. I personally would feel like a mindless sheep singing that BS outloud. Ok, I'm saying this, but wtf am I saying?

Tangents vex the whorl?

FOH

His lyrics have been incomprehensible word vomit starting with the Machina era. That’s when that incoherent prose started creeping in at times.

Yeah but like at least it used to be evocative

This newest garbage is some of the worst lyrics ive ever seen in my fucken life. Totally hollow. No emotion and not even a compelling image to latch onto

The problem I have with Billy's delving into synthpop is that I don't think he's very good at keys.

People say "but Depeche Mode", yeah and he can't program like Martin Gore can. The synth line on Colour of Love is just terrible.

Something like Saturnine (which is far superior in its original rough guitar version, but anyway) actually works better as an electronic song, and that was written a long low time ago.

Yeah I complained about not using James and Jimmy (or Jeff, for that matter) but the main problem with these songs is they sound like they were tossed together in a day.
