started watching
it's pretty weird didn't expect them to start looping the OG comic characters in, and there actually are major spoilers if you watched this before reading the graphic novel |

Man. Lindelof really stuck the landing. He’s learned a lot from Lost.

When I first heard HBO was making a Watchmen series, I was against it because I quite enjoyed the movie. Then, I heard Lindelof was involved and I absolutely loved The Leftovers, such an amazing show. That definitely piqued my interest. Then, I heard Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were doing the score and that sold me even more. Luckily, Lindelof totally nailed it. Between this and the final season of Mr. Robot, damn, we got some great television in 2019.

The NIN fans are coming at this pretty hard. TBH my only interest in the show was via the soundtracks. Trent does what he does pretty well but it's paint-by-numbers. The show is fairly engaging but it isn't shit-your-pants engaging. IDK. Maybe Star Wars fans are into it or something. Enjoy your Funko Pops.

the way Veidt was played in the show ended up being an unexpected highlight, best portrayal of him yet including the graphic novel
I have more to say about that but it would be spoilery kinda meh that Nite Owl is mentioned,I think a couple episodes in, and the Owl in a cage is obviously meant to show he's in prison(I think at least?), as the senator mentions he could pardon anyone as president, but he doesn't make an appearance, only his flyer does |

I usually hate TV I just like masked vigilante stuff
Watchmen really nails what the appeal of it all is I think...escaping yourself, becoming more than human |

Finished it yesterday. God damn good stuff. One would definitely need to read the comic beforehand though, I don’t think it stands alone very well.

I got volume 1 of the soundtrack for Christmas and had no idea about the whole alternate reality thing. Revolver even posted a negative review for the “Sons of Pale Horse”’record. So I was very confused. But then I figured it out and was very excited!

Volume 3 is by a fake band named “the nine inch nails” that exists in the Watchmen universe. Not sure about volume 2

this show was incredible beginning to end. and yes, the hooded justice reveal episode is one of the best episodes of tv i've ever seen.
if there's a season 2, unless lindlehof and co. are behind it i'm leaning towards hoping hbo leaves this story alone and does its own thing, anthology style. |
