Default Metric is opening

Surprisingly, not as embarrassing as I'd thought it'd be.

I think I have heard Metric once or twice on Pandora and did not skip it. They will be better than any of the other opening acts I saw from 2007-2016. I love Liz Phair, but her opening set in 2016 was awful.

Whoa, I mean they're no 90s-era Garbage, but that's a pretty cool get

They do rock occasionally

Listening to them now. They sound a little like Churches. Not bad.

Must have forgotten about Ringo Deathstarr then. Metric is an absolute snooze fest.

I said the bands that I saw during 2007-2016. I didn't see Ringo Deathstarr open for Smashing Pumpkins. In 2007, it was What Made Milwaukee Famous, in 2013 it was Poliça, in 2015 it was Cage, and in 2016 it was Liz Phair. I suppose Cage was fun in a train-wreck kind of way; sort of like seeing The Frogs, except The Frogs were in on the joke and Cage was dead serious. At the end, he got in some shouting match with someone in the audience and called his girlfriend an "ugly cunt" and said he was happy he "didn't have to fuck her."

They're pretty big in Canada.

I don't mind them, but I never went much deeper than their singles because their songs are kinda samey.

I remember loving their breakthrough radio hits as a kid, though. "Monster Hospital" and "Combat Baby."

I have no idea how popular they are outside of Canada, because a lot of Canadian favourites aren't well-known in the U.S. (Tragically Hip, Billy Talent).

God, that tour poster is really bothering me. Especially how the Metric logo doesn't fit, because the Metric logo is actually nice.

I like the deco attempt and the colour and the grain, but the typefaces are so ugly. Just use a geometric sans-serif font. Something in the family of Gotham or Futura.

And get rid of the weird fascist-looking angel.

Their songs and albums haven't really made much of an impact outside of Canada according to wiki. I, like others, have never heard of them, and I consider myself an expert on Canadian rock, having subscribed to fuzzyroes Canadian alt-rock showcase thread.

I know some of their singles from Pandora and satellite radio and they're pretty good. With the Nickelback rumor, I was just hoping for an opener that wouldn't make me sell my tickets for half of what I paid. This is more than I could've hoped for honestly.

Fewf! What a relief. I really thought there was truth behind that Nickelback rumor. Guess the guy was just trolling us.

DK already mentioned this, but Metric is super popular in Canada. I haven't really dug into them much, but they have a few good singles and apparently they're a really cool band to see live so I think they'll be fun to see!

They should definitely help sell some tickets for the Canadian dates.

They're not really a rock band, they're more of an alternative pop group. They sorta do that synth-heavy indie stuff.

So bizarre that people here don't seem to know Metric. They were pretty big indie names along with Broken Social Scene, Feist, etc. in the mid 2000s. And I'm not Canadian either.
