keep in mind I didn't see the Pumpkins live until 2010. I saw them that summer, the fall of 2011, and the NYC Oceania concert in December 2012. He was never into it, did not move, did not change his facial expression, and obviously Mike Byrne fucking sucked. Playing with hired hands from well known bands and getting rid of the delusion that the Oceania lineup was ever anything like a real band seems to have freed him up and make him excited again. HIS SINGING was unbelievably good, just spot on and none of the breathy/dropped consonants shit. He can still scream! He was so into it, and the Monuments songs were fucking rock live. The band was heavy, Billy was happy, the crowd loved it. An amazing night compared to the other three shows I saw, which were like bad karaoke.

It was a pretty great show. The setlist was good and I never felt bored despite not really liking the new stuff much. Hummer, Drown, SIYL, and Zero were the highlights for me. Didn't love the weird version of Silverfuck much. Also Billy can definitely still scream like a mad man and I wish he would do that on records still because he sounds amazing.

Also, Billy got pissed early on because the bassist's amp blew out a few times and you couldn't hear him at all. It sucked because it kind of ruined the intro to GATGC (and that song was really awesome otherwise).

Good news. Maybe with his new vibe he will be more inspired to the Day and Night album, doing something more near a masterpiece.
