I dunno, I used to believe that just being my awkward self would be enough. That I'd be enough. But over time,. I've come to realize that attraction is a skill, just like any other. You can't make everyone attracted to you, obviously, but you can make attraction more likely by being better at it.

Pretty much, if you treat people like friends, they'll feel about you as a friend, I think. Being too reserved and playing it too safe doesn't get one anywhere romantically.

Sometimes, people are just incompatible and just aren't into what the other person is selling. I believe this has been most of my interactions.

But, I also believe that I blew some chances with people with whom I was compatible by being too shy and scared of making a move.

In most simplified terms, yes. But a single kiss after an awkward date probably wouldn't do it. I think the chemistry would be more likely to be felt if there were flirting and physical contact (things as simple as touching an arm, pushing her hair behind her ear, resting a hand on her knee, etc).

I don't think they are consciously thinking, "I'll only be interested in him if he makes a move." I think it's a psychological thing; part of what fuels attraction is being made to feel attractive and desired. They probably won't feel that if you treat them like your little sister.

I've recently had a problem where I've found myself unable to keep on top of my phone contacts unless I put in little descriptions to help me remember. I'd come across a name, and not know whom it belongs to. Especially with the new semester starting and how I meet a lot more people when I'm in school, I've had a few numbers that I couldn't keep straight.

Figured I'd text one of them in hopes that it would jog my memory, and then I found out the number was far less recent than I had assumed (contacts apps seem to have no option to sort by date added). I was hoping that the woman wouldn't be offended that I had forgotten her…

Yeah, I can't remember why I never texted her. Sometimes, even though I get the number, I get the feeling that they only gave it to me out of politeness, and if I don't get super enthusiastic vibes, I just don't text them because I don't want to bother them. Other times, I just feel like I got the number for practice or sport, and didn't feel that much interest. And sometimes, I just forget.

I was actually totally sure she'd be offended when I revealed that I couldn't remember her, and she was just a number in my phone I decided to investigate. Especially when it turned out she wasn't even any of the people I spoke to this week, but rather, about a year ago.

We only really had twenty minutes of hanging out before she had to make her class, so it was a pretty short "date." But she seems cool. Did spend enough time together to say much more than that. I'll definitely schedule a proper one sometime soon, though.

Last night I went to a local gig, then went to karaoke with someone that I met there. I threw the fuck down on Sabotage by Beastie Boys, taking shots of whisky in between each verse, then I threw the fuck up in a rubbish bin outside. I'm amazed that I didn't pass out because I usually do when I drink so much that I throw up, but I guess it's because I had so much in such a short space of time that it didn't have time to go through my system.
