This is like that time in the 7th grade when I told the kid in front of me that there was a bee on his shoulder. He didn't believe me, either.

Disintegration is clearly their best album if you ask me. Head on the Door doesn't come close in terms of production, lyrics, and just overall song quality. It's best for when you are depressed romantically.

Among their early stuff, Faith is gorgeous! Listen to it when you're in a really fucking I-wanna-kill-myself mood.

Among the more recent albums, I think Wild Mood Swings is the most underrated and my favorite. Took me years to finally decided whether I love or hate it, and I love it. It's a few songs too long, but it has so many great tracks and flawless lyrics.
Wild Mood Swings is 23 years old today.

Recent, lol.

Do you guys ever have dreams where you discover a bands album you have never heard before with all new songs you don't recognize and then you wake up trying to remember the name of the songs/album?

Well about a year ago, the title Jupiter Crash came to me in a dream. I had no idea if it was a band name, album, book, movie anything at all. I typed it into Google the next morning and lo and behold, it was a Cure song. Now my knowledge of The Cure was pretty much Love Cats, Boys Don't Cry & Friday I'm In Love. I tried listening to Disintegration once and apart from the first song, it really didn't do a whole lot for me.

But I fucking love Jupiter Crash, the mood + lyrics are just perfect.

So yeah, a really great song came to me in a dream and I bought Wild Mood Swings for that reason. Unfortunately there's only a few songs I like from the album like Mint Car, Round & Round & Round. I like The 13th but I wish it didn't have the out of place lame Do It To Me Do It To Me (sock it to me sock it to me) chorus, but I'm still glad I bought it and who knows, maybe one day WMS will grow on me.

I'm that one guy whose only Cure album is Wild Mood Swings.

Actually, I'm currently listening to this album for the first time in ages and it's actually better than what I remember. Currently up to Treasure and I honestly don't remember this song but I really dig it.

moreso WMS than Zeitgeist, though, considering it has what i consider to be possibly the best Cure track of all time as its opener

sure, though I feel a bit that Want is a less engaging version of the EPIC tracks that Cure did much better on Disintegration and Wish.

what are the gems on Shitgeist? Starz?

I don't know, WMS just sounds like Wish C-sides to me (knowing the Wish B-sides are great)

it does suck. i only really like the bsides, bleeding the orchid, starz, and pomp and circumstances.

but it's better than some people give it credit for. it's better than anything that came after it.
