Default Would MCIS be any different in standard instead of Eb?

i’ve been focusing on guitar a lot in quarantine and it’s really fucking annoying having that whole era be off limits unless i can be arsed to downtune my guitar

like would it sell different? feel different to any major degree?

I think Corgan downtunes his guitar to accommodate his vocal range, though I have also heard Eb described as feeling "more minor(key)" feeling, than standard.

I don't think it has anything to do with how it would sell, but feel? Yes, to the people/person writing it.

If I were in F-Sharp-Major, would my records sell?

It's not really that hard to downtune your guitar half a step...

and yes, it would feel different. Eb feels more melancholy because it's more minor, and it can also make songs heavier - see Fuck You, Bullet, Zero etc

yes, rambotwentyseven, you fookin' crybaby. just downtune your guitar.
or don't, and find out if it feels differently immediately.

Nah, dude. In order to make your songs more minor, you gotta buy a minor guitar.

Rambo probably has a major guitar. Or if it's a starter one, a pentatonic guitar.

but real answer: I say yes. maybe not to someone unfamiliar with the songs, but IMO MCIS forward starts to have a subtly darker sound than the earlier, primarily standard tuned stuff.

if you practice changing tunings often, you will get quite fast and accurate at dropping the strings a half step and bringing them back up. but also, no it doesn't matter if you play 1979 in standard

a capo at Fret One is pure buffoonery

a double-necked guitar is the only reasonable solution, ramm27'd

hmm, wow, never thought of it as being a practicable thing. i was trying to save up to get a jaguar instead lol

i can do low E histrionics by ear easily but anything else is 🥴. i tried to tune my acoustic to play 33 and broke a string. it must've been a sine

The Johnny Marr Jaguar doesn't even have all the buttons!

You're hardly going to nail Dunkelheit without switchable pickup combinations even if you do pop a capo in the second onto a set of nines.

you'll totally get it with practice. this was something that used to be daunting to me as well and I would avoid changing tunings a lot because it was a pain in the ass. obviously I don't tune by ear primarily, but yeah just practice that shit and you'll have it in no time.

i think it decreases string life but eh you only live once

it's clearly a half guitar half bass. you wouldn't call it a double neck bass would you, but that's the same as calling it a double neck guitar.
