Ok, that "women aren't funny" theory is something I don't agree with. I like many female jokesters and I don't think they "emulate male comedy" or whatever the fuck he said. I'd need to listen to his reasons for endorsing the Iraq war as I am unaware of his position or reasoning for thinking this. (I mainly listen to his views on atheism.)

How is this being sexist? I'd need to read the entire context of where you got that quote from. If he's making comment on the way women are treated over there, (and how lucky women in western society are to be not living in those countries) then doesn't he have a point? Are women in Saudi Arabia being treated with equality, kindness and respect?

i think you need to read more about dawkins, guy. i don't really have time to explain to you a noted and repeated behavior for dawkins to be extremely disrespectful of women

sorry hnibos but:

i love the "i'd have to listen to why he justified iraq" part here let me sum it up for you: "saddam is bad and it's good for the world that he's gone" the same logic as bush. this got a former socialist vietnam war protestor invited to dine with president dumbass.

and now we have ISIS so WAY TO GO

Ok Trots. Its just that I've seen and know a lot about him. Granted, I've not read much of his stuff but I think I've honestly seen every single doco, interview, debate, etc of him and I don't think I've ever seen him once be offensive to women. And by all means, I'd be the first to say "Hey! Cut that shit out fool!" If he was disrespectful to women.

Women aren't funny. men aren't funny. 99% of comedians aren't funny and should not have a job. Being funny is hard work. Only about 0.00001% of the population can do it consistently well. In a perfect world there would be 31 comedians in America. And even that seems a lot because i sure cant think fo 31 comedians in america right now who are funny. Maybe i should change the number t0 0.000001%

There's so many reasons.

It's the exact same train of thought that shuts down any argument because starving children in Africa.

It's a false dichotomy, that one can't care about their "first world problems" as well as starving children in Africa.

Just because starving children in Africa have it worse than you doesn't make your problems any less real.

The people that criticise those bemoaning their problems because of starving children in Africa usually don't give a shit about starving children in Africa.

They also have their own problems that they care about a lot more than starving children in Africa.

i mean you're gay Jerry, you think if someone degrades you with slurs or ugly looks or you know anything that happens to make feel gay people ostracized from society that you're not supposed to be upset about that because if you were in saudi arabia they'd stone you to death if they found out?

Ok, can anyone provide me the original context to what Dawkins was talking about please? The entire article or clip?

(I agree with your analogy Shallowed, I just don't see how that equates to what Dawkins was saying is all.)

Woman: Gee, I sure wish I was paid the same as my male counterparts.
Dawkins : Shut up, at least you don't live in Saudia Arabia.

What the Fight's Really about: Several comments, including Watson's own, hit on exactly what the fight's about. Dawkins has every right to dismiss Watson's story and to argue that she was not in a high risk situation. But his attempt to prove how insignificant Watson's story was by comparing it with the much worse scenario of a Muslim woman's daily life hurts his argument. The fact that something worse is going on somewhere else does not diminish whatever may be happening here. Also, as Watson points out, Dawkins is admired widely for work criticizing creationism and denouncing the use of religion as an excuse for repressing women in particular. To defend only some women from misogyny and not all, she and others argue, is hypocrtical.
I agree. Understanding the context of the argument, I guess Dawkins was wrong. You are correct Shallow. Thanks for not resorting to name calling.
