ok for the first time in my netphorian history i want to share some of my own stuff here.
i'm posting this here and not in the 'post ur musics' thread because i guess the lyrics are a big part of it.
obligatory depricating disclaimer: terrible recording, i'm a terrible singer and my voice was a bit out of whack yesterday, and i can only do one take of guitar and voice at the same time. so - it is what it is.

coming down the stairs
or rather , falling
iron heart cast
into a mold of war

forged in water
the breille that spelled disaster
seven hundred years
we were alone

we were together.

there's been enough member loss
of people shedding light
going down the well.

and if you see me
biting my lip bloody
know i will only fight and stand for
you and me
but we're soldiers now
dodging opposite trajectories

i know it's wrong.
nothin' can be done.
men must be strong.

wake up, wake up
we have company!
the guests had arrived... my, my
an entire year rolled by

pull your fingers
on my war machine
the ultimate pleasure...
or is that an anguished cry?

i know it's wrong.
what have i done?
sear & burn my tongue.

you and me
seven hundred years.
and we're soldiers now
facing opposite trajectories.

Funny thing with life
You try to stand but kneeling legs await

Just this side of love
Is where you'll find the confidence not to continue

Your body breaks
Your needs consume you forever
And with this lies the need to be here together

pretty much all the lyrics on this album

Quote:
oh I just love the kind of woman who can walk over a man
I mean like a god damn marching band
she says like literally music is the air she breathes
and the malaprops make me want to fucking scream
I wonder if she even knows what that word means
well it's literally not that

of the few main things I hate about her one's her petty vogue ideas
someone's been told too many times they're beyond their years
by every halfwit of distinction she keeps around
and now every insufferable convo features her patiently explaining the cosmos
of which she is in the middle

oh my god I swear this never happens
lately I can't stop the wheels from spinning
I feel so unconvincing when I fumble with your buttons

she blames her excess on my influence but gladly hoovers all my drugs
I found her naked with her best friend in the tub
we sang silent night in three parts which was fun
until she said that she sounds just like sarah vaughan
I hate that soulful affectation white girls put on
why don't you move to delta?
I obliged later on when you begged me to choke ya

I can't listen to anything else right now

"Rivers of sadness and mutual need
In the loud desperation of social routine
The rock of salvation, lightly esteemed
And distance surging like oceans between us
Suspended by strings over rotating wheels
Via magnets and springs of Carnegie steel
With representation our fashionable theme
And unfathomably powerful forces
Like oceans between us
We have all the signs we need
Do we decide not to read?
My will and those who precede: the relation between
Is listening beside me
At night like some seismic machine
While the metal vibrations of petrified men
Are etched in translation by pendulum pens
And the movements of underground plates
Do nothing to bridge or exacerbate
Oceans between us "

John Hiatt's "Dust Down A Country Road"

Quote:
Could not get to sleep it was on my wedding night
I was tangled in the sheets and I was dreaming of a light
Pouring from her window, coming up through the floor
Lifting up the darkness crashing through my kitchen door
Down to that old oak table I went to take a look
And my whole life flashed before me just like a story book
She used to make me breakfast or sit around and talk
Have another cup of coffee or maybe take a little walk
Dust down a country road
Blowing in the wind behind an old truck load
Up before the rooster crowed
There's an old dog staring at the dust down a country road
And that truck is going somewhere I just can't be sure
When tomorrow's just the day after all that's gone before
And I always thought of leaving I never could stay too long
Now her memory's catching up and our sweet dreams are all gone
Like dust down a country road
Blowing in the wind behind an old truck load
Up before the rooster crowed
There's an old dog staring at the dust down a country road
If I had a bullet I'd put it in this gun
And I'd catch that old dog napping and I'd shoot him before he runs
'Cause he ain't much good for nothin' except staring at the dust
Lord I wonder what he's looking at sneaking up on us
Like dust down a country road
Blowing in the wind behind an old truck load
Up before the rooster crowed
There's an old dog staring at the dust

this entire song is brilliant but i especially dig the bolded parts

Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss
A singing smile
Coffee smell and lilac skin
Your flame in me

I'm only here for this moment

I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
How our love will blow it all away

Hmm, such a thing of wonder in this crowd
I'm a stranger in this town
You're free with me
And our eyes locked in downcast love
I sit here proud
Even now you're undressed in your dreams with me

Oh, I'm only here for this moment

I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
How our love will blow it all away

I know the tears we cried
Have dried on yesterday
The sea of fools has parted for us
There's nothing in our way
My love

Don't you see, don't you see?
You're just the torch to put the flame to all our guilt and shame
And I'll rise like an ember in your name

I know I, I know I
I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
Oh let me show you
That love can rise, rise just like embers

Love can taste like the wine of the ages, oh babe,
And I know they all looks so good from a distance
But I tell you I'm the one

I know everybody here, well, thinks he needs you
Think he needs you
And I'll be waiting right here just to show you.

I come home in the morning light
My mother says, "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones

The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells, "what you gonna do with your life?"
Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one

Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I wanna be the one to walk in the sun

"Let’s retire to our knees
With our books as our graces
And kindly machines
Of concern take our places
Grow motorized trees
Build robotic faces

Who smile on command
Who can mind their own business

We’ll hold human hands
And rest human feet

In the Chapelcross Towns
Of the battle-scarred mornings
Fake leaves rustling sounds
Lay rattlesnake warnings
From our homes underground
You can still hear them moaning

Don’t cheat on your taxes
But as for your spouses

Dark secrets come out
With comma or without

When the tired young knees
Of your father walked out
To the lord I disbelieve
But increase thou my doubt
He sat down in the leaflessness
A thousand more times
I went back on my word
But I won’t go back this time

Neither bondsman nor free
But a newspaper salesmen

Who moves about words
(e.g. “death do us part”)

If our prayers are unheard
Well, our prayers are unheard"
