am i the only one that noticed how similar pale horse and mina loy are? in particular, pale horse's opening riff/melody and that part of mina loy at the end "im just one wish away/im just one wish away from you, kid"...

Also, what the fuck is with the THORAZINE line? i hate when billy just unnecessarily repeats the same lyrics over and over again.... THORAZINE THORAZINE THORAZINE

...THORAZINE

PLEASE COME BACK
PLEASE COME BACK
PLEASE COME BACK
PLEASE COME BACK........... PALE HAAAAARSE

but this band is going to be doing some signings according to facebook, so, thats cool, i have some vinyl that needs to be signed! and a billy corgan strat

i tend to agree with the alt-countryish kinda acoustic-ey whaterver thing being a good avenue to pursue ... but wasn't that what he was going for with american gothic? i fear that if he tried to go there like he did with that thing, he'd over-think it and turn out all american gothicey

The riff in this song is like a slower owata.

Yeah, I was trying to put my finger on this. The main riff is the same as the vocal "Oh what a beautiful night".

Pale Horse is awesome because it might be a reference to the movie Tombstone.

i think the problem with everything post-2000 is that it's not given enought time to marinate and gain substance. even zwan's lifecycle was cut pretty short.

it's like he has one idea and if it doens't immediately change the world it's back to the drawing board for the next big change of direction.

on some of the live show USBs last year it sounded as if billy was singing "fluorescein" not thorazine. the lyrics got transcribed that way on some blogs and I think a few lyrics websites. Why he was singing it that way i don't know. In one of the USBs I have he sounds like he's singing Fluorescein for all but the last word in the chorus where he switches to Thorazine.

"Flurazine" (similar pronounciation) is also an antipsychotic drug.

at least it's not "special K"

Not sure I agree with that. There's a few lyrics in here that make me cringe like

"But I will be special k" (I know it's probably a ketamine reference but I can't seeing the breakfast cereal in my head...)

"God right on!
Krishna right on!
Mark right on!
Yod He Vau He Om
Let’s ride on!
Right on!
Let’s ride on!" ughhh...

"Fairy tales and tiny whales" or whatever it is he's singing...

However I agree with Slunken's OP, the stripped back largely effects free music is by far the best stuff he's been creating in the last decade or so.

This. I thought Corgan already elaborated the song is about chemicals in the Chicago water... or something like that.

either way, best song on the album, best song he's done since Zwan.

Pale horse is about me.
I'm in a mental hospital, in part cause of my Sagittarius (half woman, half horse) girlfriend.
She used to come visit, she's fair skined, and she left cause I lied, and I was livin the runaway life thing. I mailed her 14 letters wanting her back.
She and I are not compatable. I'm a Pisces.
Now I have a Libra and a healthy stable relationship. I like the song were Billy sings "Breath! Love is air."
