Does Billy go into the audience during that clip? I've never seen him do that...

I mean even the most seasoned of seasoned bands will probably at some point during a show mess one or two things up. Most of the time nobody will notice (or care much anyway) unless you end up holding the wrong note for like several seconds.....OR making everybody stop to be like omg what is this?

And then that last clip just above. Wow. He deserves to have no band and to not be selling and to not be celebrated to the breath of his accomplishments....in this culture. Fucking asshole. When you look at shit like this you realize that the fact that James hasnt talked to him again in like 15 years might actually make him the better human being in the whole band.

The whole time they were just looking at each other like they had never practiced together before. This was not some high school band either. It was Saturday night at a respectable bar and the band looked mid twenties with all the correct hipster costumes like they should know what they were doing. Needless to say, it was easy act to follow.

To top it off, the guitarist somehow got our number and called us on the way home and asked us if we accidentally picked up a really nice Gretsch guitar they had (which was the only pleasant thing about their band). We of course didn't, but they got the guitar stolen after that awful show just to prove that God hates them.
that was me with the gretsch in an alt timeline i think

sorry bout that

This performance of Tristessa. Billy rings out a D chord like the beginning of 'Bury Me' and then Jimmy gets confused and starts the 'Bury Me' beat while the rest of the band starts playing Tristessa. He catches it quick though.

Stopping in the middle of a song is not only unprofessional, t's completely counter-intuitive and damages the way people think about you that would've otherwise never noticed D'arcy's bum notes, and they wouldn't have had first hand personal experience of Billy's dictator dickishness. Obviously these issues are deep-rooted, because billco has always been a smart businessman in other areas, but every now and then he just lets his complete and utter contempt for his bandmates spew out. pretty vicious. how un-self aware do you have to be to not see that insulting your bandmates like a schoolyard bully in front of thousands of your fans is one of the dumbest things you can do as a musician/entertainer/public person.

it's in completey free time! that's exactly what an incredible connection between two musicians is about.

Drugs. Billy seriously needs 'em.

He's acting pretty similar to that South American show that was sponsored by a cigarette company. Maybe he found some antique 'ludes.

What a fucking awful show. Are the "Pumpkins" going to fall so low they're going to have to play the casino circuit like Boyz II Men or Styx ?

Billy doesn't even give a shit anymore...look at his face 0:55

The guitar and vocals remind of that awful Umphrey Mgee's cover...but with worse drums

It's just so far removed from the SD version in so many ways, what's the point anymore? I love how every iteration of the band gets worse and worse so you miss the previous version

I like how so many people in the crowd have a camera on a stick

They're probably all getting in each other's way

I love how you keep saying that while you've never seen them live.
going by a messy show on youtube you judge the quality of an entire line-up.

granted, this lolla show didn't sound that great, but they did sound great between the first show in Chicago last fall and the December gigs. whatever went wrong here isn't enough to say "yea this line up is so much worse than Mikey bambam and Nicole."

That "United States" sounds like a high-school band version of the original song.

No, but I haven't seen the original lineup live either, or the Oceania era one. Seeing them all on youtube cancels that out.

Brad Wilk just doesn't have the right feel to play a song like that. He's more of a straight ahead hard rock drummer, doesn't have that jazzy swing that JC is so good at.

The guitar tone sounds pretty bad on that performance. Sounds too clean like they're using a tubescreamer into a clean amp. Doesn't have the saturation a song like that needs.

You can tell Jeff is phoning it in big time.

The guitar sounds so shallow and sloppy

I think the whole thing is mixed really badly but still

(Oh and I like how much they artificially pump up the crowd noise when Billy starts his solo @ 3:42)

Whenever they play BWBW it's really noticeable too during the chorus. There's no warmth to anything.

The other day I was watching this

and for the first time it really made me realize how important D'arcy was to the band. That bass tone is so Pumpkins-y...it's legato and smooth and warm and groovy

I mean that is just a cover band playing at Lolla 2015 for all intents and purposes

holy shit discovering Brad Wilk is in SP is news to me
i can't be bothered to give a shit about this band anymore

just goes to show you what a black hole sp has become. Wilk is such a great fucking drummer. so powerful. he sounds weak and lame with sp. guess you can't add muscle to a piece of shit
