Does anyone else feel like maybe they are a little afraid to admit to themselves that they really like this song? The more I listen to it, the more I like it, and the more I feel like it taps into that spark that made the band stand out so much in the 90s. I felt a little disappointed at first (and my expectations were low to begin with), but I keep coming back to it...

Well, Corgi had set the bar pretty low. It is sort of sad that all it took was a song that wasn't cringe-worthy at first listen. Remember Being BEIGE?

Let's give it a week and see how we feel.

It taps into the spark more than anything post Machina

But it doesn’t do anything

tbh I felt like Dorian tapped into that same SP1 feeling too though I know a lot of people didn’t like the lyrics.

Yeah no you’re right

One and All, Tiberius and Dorian all did

All kinda sucked

Whatever this song is ok. Back to a 6.5

Did they take down that Dorian frog video? That was my favorite SP video since SIYL, and they didn't even make it.

Billy's vocals ruin Silvery Sometimes and Solara for me. It just doesn't sound sincere. He seems to have chosen singing this way because he thinks it sounds technically better, but where is the emotion? He has chosen technique over conveying emotion. His voice sounds so sterile and lackadaisical. Solara was the same. The feeling is gone. He may think he wasn't the best vocalist back in the day and that is probably true, but jesus at least you felt something in his singing. It didn't need to sound perfect or technically flawless, it just needed to convey emotion. You could feel his pain or longing. His singing felt human and honest. People say the drums are lifeless as a drum machine, well I say the vocals sound lifeless as a guy just going through the motions. People ripped Billy's voice back in the day, but you felt their intention: the rage, the sadness, the bittersweet. This? Sterile, stagnant, empty, lifeless. Rick Rubin's glossy production doesn't help, but even an amazing producer like Flood or Butch Vig can't do a thing if the singer doesn't sound like he truly feels the lyrics he is singing. This is my biggest issue.

I agree with all of this.. He is so disconnected.. No emotion or feeling..listened to Oceania recently & felt emotion there..may be he is finally disconnected from his smile..

It may also be partly because he is obsessed with concepts and stories rather than singing about how he really feels. This is also displayed in the costumes and make-up he insists on wearing.

I actually think this is the best his vocals have sounded in a long, long time... Doesn't change the fact that I find it to be kind of a trite song though.

Listening to the song a few more times again today, it really could've used a little drum variance to break up the prodding, monotonous vibe. I know they're going for the 1979 aesthetic, but just a little nuance here and there would've made it a lot more interesting... Especially when you have the master back behind the kit. I'm thinking something along the lines of how Set the Ray To Jerry progresses...

the song is dece but Billy’s vocal is trash and he somehow managed to drop the “g” consonant in the word “ghosts”. A vocal blend avec Katie Cole would have helped.
