honestly living with people you're already friends with is a bad idea because it'll ruin the relationship because no matter what (and especially for someone who seems as anal retentive as you seem to be) their little annoying habits and stuff are going to start driving you mad
but living with strangers isn't ideal either, but i suppose having some kind of tertiary relationship with someone where you knew they were responsible enough to offer stability then that would probably be for the best, because then you (may) become friends through roommating even though some of their issues would make you crazy or maybe that's me |

also not sure why trots thinks i'm anal retentive.
and i spend enough time with them to know whether or not they'd bother me. and they know if i would bother them. hurricane sandy was a good test, because i was there for about six days. and we had a spectacular time. |

I had both. I moved into an apartment with my best friend from highschool, a mate from college and two total strangers. The whole thing blew up badly.
Since I'm working I always shared apartments with people I liked but didn't know too well. Some of them turned into friends, some moved out because it wasn't working. Those habits that start to drive you crazy only bother me in a relationship. I don't care much about odd things a roommate does, if it's my boyfriend doing the same thing, it's different. No idea why. |

i dunno if you're victimized by an old whiny burnout loser and his relentless griping daily because you are living with him it's like one of the circles of hell

believe it or not i try not to complain too much about other people and what they do but you know when you can't be arsed to clean up after yourself or do much of anything it's pretty motherfucking annoying, especially when the old burnout blames you for everything and acts like it's your responsibility to clean up the third roommate's messes and general total carelessness

We are all about the same age now. A year ago a room was free and we gave it to a woman who looked like 30, said she was 27, and talked about her job at a radio station - seemed cool. Turned out she was 43, psychotic as fuck, and spent her days stalking her ex. She got mad from one second to the next. We waited way too long to sort this shit out. Finally we had to call the cops and an ambulance. During the time she had the room next to mine, so I locked my door before I went to bed.
The most disturbing thing was that I hated her guts for showing me every day what my life might look like at 43. |
