Question What song are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

Hopefully this will be a successful thread.

Sonic Youth is one of the best bands ever.

Listening to this now.

No one played like that in 1987. No one anyone knew about anyway. But Sonic Youth did.

i dont know if i'd consider Rather Ripped to be 20 years ahead of time.

In saying that, they are my favorite band, of all time

none of the music that has come out this year or recent years past has been ahead of it's time

I was just about to say that. It really is amazing how ahead of their time they were. I mean yeah, today, I guess they aren't, because time caught up to them. But they really did help usher in that sound. But what's weird is that despite their influence, there is still no band that really sounds exactly like Sonic Youth. People took little things from them but no one has really been able to duplicate the full package.

ooh ooh who knows this one? :

slipping through the wood in the dark of the night
calling to the moon out yonder
O lady moon wont you shine a silver light
and lead me to my Griselda

great song

Well despite what you may think about their latest album, it's what SY did in the 80's and early/mid 90's that defines them as a band and that will never change. That's just greatness.

Rather Ripped is a pretty good album overall. Is it one of their best, maybe not. But I will say Kim has some of her strongest tracks on there.

SY is still an amazing band.

She isn't too embarrassing on that album and they did a good job of shutting her up for most of the album.
